Hampton – Plain Surround

The Hampton makes its case through restraint. The surround is plain — no buttoning, no panelling, no contrast border — so the eye follows one continuous upholstered line from the floor to the top of the headboard. It is a shape that settles into a room rather than announcing itself, and it sits as easily beneath a period cornice as it does in a plain white box of a bedroom.

The headboard is the one piece of drama. It stands full height in every size, giving you a properly padded surface to sit back against and lending the bed presence without adding any decoration to the frame itself. Choose a flat weave and the Hampton almost disappears; choose a deep velvet and the same plain shape becomes the strongest thing in the room.

Each one is built from scratch once you have ordered. Nothing is taken from stock — the frame is made, padded and upholstered to the size, fabric and colour you have chosen, which is also why a handmade piece will sit a few millimetres either side of the dimensions listed.
