Privacy Policy

Last updated 26 October 2026.

This policy explains what personal information Langham Furniture collects when you use langhamfurniture.com, visit our store or contact us, what we do with it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

Who we are

Langham Furniture Ltd, a company registered in Scotland under company number SC898771, with its registered office at 5 Kingsheath Avenue, Glasgow G73 2DG, is the controller of your personal information.

For anything about your data, email info@langhamfurniture.com, call 07784 431115, or write to us at the address above.

What we collect, and why

When you order or reserve

Your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, what you ordered and the options you chose, and whether and how you paid. We use it to make, deliver and support your order, including returns and faulty-goods claims, because we need it to carry out our contract with you. We keep the records the law requires for tax and accounting.

When you pay

Payments are handled by PayPal, whether you pay by card or with a PayPal account. We never see or store your card details. PayPal tells us whether a payment succeeded and gives us a reference, and is responsible for the information you give it under its own privacy notice.

When you work out delivery

To calculate the delivery charge, we look up the distance from our store to your delivery postcode using postcodes.io, a public postcode service. Only the postcode is sent.

If you create an account

Your name, email address and password (stored scrambled, so nobody — including us — can read it), any saved addresses, your wishlist, your orders, returns and support messages, and your email preference. We use it to run your account, because you asked us to.

When you contact us

If you use the contact form, ask a question about a product, message us on live chat or WhatsApp, email or call, we keep your name, contact details and what you tell us, so we can answer you and follow up. Live chat is provided by Tawk.to and WhatsApp by Meta; each also handles your messages under its own privacy notice.

Reviews

If you leave a review, we publish your rating, what you wrote and the name you give with it. You can ask us to remove it at any time. After an order is delivered we may email you once to ask for a review.

Marketing email

We only send marketing email if you tick the box asking for it. You can stop it at any time from Email preferences in your account, or by contacting us. Emails about your own orders are not marketing and are sent either way.

Keeping the site safe

Our server records technical details of each visit — your IP address, browser type and the pages requested — and we use them to protect the site and our forms from abuse. This is in our legitimate interest in running a secure shop.

Cookies and advertising

We use essential cookies to make the shop work. Optional cookies — for live chat and for measuring our Facebook and Instagram ads — are used only if you say yes, and you can change your mind at any time. Our cookie policy lists every cookie by name.

If you allow advertising cookies, the Meta Pixel sends Meta Platforms Ireland Limited details of the pages you view and the items you add to your basket, linked to identifiers in Meta’s cookies. If you then place an order, we send Meta the order value and the items in it, together with a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email address, phone number, name, town, postcode and country, so Meta can match the purchase to an ad. Hashing turns each detail into a code rather than the detail itself, but it is still personal information. We do this only with your consent, and only for orders placed after you gave it. Meta and we are jointly responsible for collecting and sending this information; what Meta does with it afterwards is covered by Meta’s own privacy policy.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • the makers, suppliers and carriers who produce or deliver your order — the details they need to do so;
  • PayPal, to take payment;
  • Resend, which sends our emails;
  • Tawk.to, if you use live chat;
  • Meta, only as described above and only with your consent;
  • DigitalOcean, which hosts our website and its database;
  • postcodes.io, which receives only your delivery postcode;
  • our professional advisers, and HMRC, the police or other authorities where the law requires it.

Outside the UK

Some of these providers, including PayPal, Meta, Resend, Tawk.to and DigitalOcean, may store or process information outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US data bridge.

How long we keep it

  • Orders, reservations, payments and invoices: six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as UK tax law requires.
  • Your account: until you ask us to close it. Order records are then kept for the period above.
  • Enquiries, live chat and messages: up to two years after we last heard from you.
  • Reviews: for as long as they are published, or until you ask us to remove them.
  • Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe. We then keep a note of your address so we do not email you again.
  • Server logs: a few weeks.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, delete it or restrict how we use it, object to how we use it, or ask for it in a portable format. You can object to marketing at any time and we will stop. Where we rely on your consent — for marketing email and for optional cookies — you can withdraw it at any time; change your cookie choices from Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. Some rights have limits: we cannot delete order records the law requires us to keep, for example.

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details above. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or 0303 123 1113.

Keeping it secure

The site runs over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, passwords are stored scrambled, and access to customer information is limited to the people who need it to run the shop.

Children

Our shop is for adults. You must be 18 or over to place an order, and we do not knowingly collect information about children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
