Lyla Kids

Lyla is chosen for its cloth as much as its shape. The upholstery ranges that go on our adult beds are all available here, in the full run of colours, so a child's bed can be matched to a room scheme instead of being the one piece that fights it. A soft neutral will still look right in five years; a deeper colour forgives a great deal of daily life.

The headboard measures 50 inches from the floor up — enough to lean back against with a book or a screen, and enough to give the bed some standing in a room that tends to fill up with everything else. It is built the way our grown-up frames are built, which matters, because a child's bed takes more punishment than most furniture in the house.

Lyla is made in single or small double after you order, and arrives with a Rio mattress in the matching size. Each one is handmade, so dimensions shift very slightly between beds; measure the bedroom, and the way into it, with a little room to spare.
