Chelsea is sized for real bedrooms. A single measures 105cm across and a small double 130cm, both 205cm long, and the step from one to the other is usually the difference between a child's room that feels generous and one that feels tight. It is worth marking both out on the floor with tape before you decide which way to go.

The headboard is 50 inches from the floor, which stops the bed disappearing against a wall of shelving, and the upholstery is yours to choose: a colour picked up from the curtains, or something dark enough to forgive a good deal. Whichever you settle on, the bed is cut and covered by hand once the order is placed rather than taken off a shelf.

A Rio mattress in the matching size is included, so the bed arrives complete and ready to sleep in. As with everything made to order, finished dimensions vary very slightly from bed to bed — allow a tolerance when you measure the space and the way in.
