About the Etta
Etta is the opposite of a statement headboard. Here the presence comes from the base: the mattress sits well inside a broad upholstered platform that runs generously wide on both sides and continues past the foot end. Seen from the door the bed reads as one long horizontal block, low and settled, with the headboard finishing it off rather than announcing it.
That shape asks for a fair amount of floor, and it repays it. The wide borders give you somewhere to put a book down, they stop bedside tables looking marooned, and they keep the whole composition low in rooms with sloping ceilings, dormers or low windows where a tall headboard would simply not fit.
