Wall Panel LED Lighting 05: the trimmed strip, 20mm overall

Wall Panel LED Lighting 05: the trimmed strip, 20mm overall — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Wall Panel LED Lighting 05 (6pcs)

View the product

Read down the panel lighting listings and one line repeats on almost every one of them: no trim. Wall Panel LED Lighting 05 (6pcs) is the exception. It has a black trim, and the listing gives the figure that follows from it: 20mm total width.

What the trim is actually for

A trim is the piece that covers the join between the strip and the board it sits against. An untrimmed strip shows its own edge and whatever the channel edge looks like beside it, which is fine where the recess was formed by the panel profile itself and the two edges are factory clean. It is less forgiving where the channel was cut on site, where a plaster edge meets the strip, or where the gap between two boards is not quite the same width along its whole length. The trim covers that line.

So the question is not whether a trim is better. It is whether the edge you are fitting against needs covering. If it does, this is the pack in the range that comes with the answer rather than leaving you to find one.

Fifteen millimetres, twenty with the trim

Two figures, and both need checking against your wall:

FigureListed as
Strip width15mm
Strip depth9mm
Overall width with trim20mm
Trim colourBlack

Twenty millimetres is the widest overall figure in this category, where the slimmest packs are 10mm. That is a real difference on a panelled wall: a 20mm black line reads as a deliberate detail, not a hidden source. Hold a 20mm strip of card against the wall before you commit, because the width of the dark line when the light is off is as much part of the look as the light when it is on.

White light with a remote

The specification lists white LED, with a remote that adjusts brightness and colour. The opening paragraph of the same listing offers a choice of warm or white, so the page disagrees with itself on that point and the shop is the one to settle it. No kelvin figure is published either, so the exact tone of white is not on the page. If a warm option would suit the room better, Pack 03 is the one whose specification lists warm or white rather than white alone, though without a trim. For plain white on the slimmest profile here, Pack 06 is 10mm wide.

The rest of the figures

  • Six strips per pack: two of 60cm, two of 90cm, two of 150cm.
  • Fixed lengths. Nothing on the page says a strip can be cut or joined.
  • Strip to transformer, transformer to mains, installation instructions provided.
  • Code AWS-AS012.
  • The first cover image is flagged as an AI generated visual representation.

Questions for the shop, and what to order alongside

Four things the listing does not settle, all of which matter once the trim is involved: whether the trim clips on or is fixed, whether it can be left off if you change your mind, how deep the trim sits, and whether black is the only colour it comes in. Ask before ordering if the answer would change your choice. No IP rating or output figure is published either.

For a slimmer untrimmed line, Pack 02 is 10mm in multi-colour. Panel edge trims for the boards themselves are a separate matter and live under Trims & Fittings, while the other lighting options are on the Panel Lighting page. Delivery is free within 50 miles of the Glasgow store and £50 beyond. With the 20mm figure checked against your channel, order Wall Panel LED Lighting 05 (6pcs) with the boards, so the channel and the trim width are settled before they go on the wall.
