Wall Panel LED Lighting 07 Flexible: cutting 240cm strips to fit

Wall Panel LED Lighting 07 Flexible: cutting 240cm strips to fit — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Wall Panel LED Lighting 07 - Flexible (4pcs)

View the product

Most of the LED sets in this category arrive as finished lengths you design the wall around. Wall Panel LED Lighting 07 - Flexible (4pcs) works the other way: four strips of 240cm, flexible, cut to the length you need. That one difference changes how you measure.

Why cut-to-length changes the measuring

With fixed strips you fit the lighting to stocked lengths of 60cm, 90cm and 150cm, and an awkward run means a different layout. Here you measure the run you actually want and take it out of a 240cm piece. Four pieces is 9.6m of strip per pack by simple arithmetic, but each lit line still has to come out of one 240cm piece, because nothing on the page says two pieces can be joined. So a pack gives you four runs of anything up to 240cm, and a wall of five 180cm vertical lines means two packs.

The description also points the strips at under-cabinet work and architectural highlights as well as panelling, which follows from being able to cut them: a 240cm piece can be taken down to a shelf length instead of a wall line. Whether the offcut can then be wired up as a second run is one of the questions below, because the listing does not say.

At 11mm this and Pack 08 are the deepest profiles in the category. If your recess is shallow, check it against Pack 03 at 7mm before you settle on this one. The carton figures are there because a ten-pack is a sensible way to buy for a whole house or a job, and 19.5kg is a two-handed lift up a stair.

Dimmable white, and a remote that mounts on the wall

Dimmable is stated, which is more than most listings here give you, and the remote comes with a wall mount. That matters in practice: a handset with a home on the wall beside the door gets used, and a handset in a drawer does not. No kelvin figure is published for the white, and no lumen or wattage output, so how bright the room goes at full output is a question for the shop rather than something this page can answer. An installation video is provided, which is the other thing this listing has and its siblings do not.

Cable reach and where the transformer goes

Over 180cm of cable per light sets the geometry of the whole job. Every strip has to reach the same transformer, so the transformer wants to sit near the middle of the run, not at one end. Decide its home before the boards go on, and leave yourself a way back to it: a transformer sealed permanently behind panelling is a problem the first time anything fails. A cupboard, a service void or the back of a fitted unit all work.

The cutting questions to ask first

The listing says cut to length and flexible. It does not say where along the strip a cut may be made, whether the cut end needs a connector or sealing, whether an offcut can still be wired up, or what the tightest curve is that the strip will take. The provided video is the likely place those answers live, so ask the shop what it covers before you order, especially if your plan depends on turning an internal corner in one continuous line. No IP rating is published, so treat it as dry interior work.

The multi-colour version of the same strip is Pack 08, and its listing is the only one in the range that states how many lights sit on one transformer. The full set of options is on the Panel Lighting page, and Pack 06 is the fixed-length white alternative. Delivery is free within 50 miles of the Glasgow store and £50 beyond. With your run lengths and transformer position decided, the photographs and figures are on the Wall Panel LED Lighting 07 - Flexible (4pcs) page.
