Wall Panel 84D Dark Brown: brackets, fixings and what to ask
This guide is about
Wall Panel 84D - Dark Brown - Outdoor - 240cm - (1 pack / 12pcs)
Outdoor panelling is only as good as what holds it on. Wall Panel 84D in Dark Brown arrives twelve panels to a pack at 16 x 240 x 1cm, and the listing is clear about one thing and quiet about several others. Here is the difference.
What the listing says about fixing
It names Bracket For Outdoor Panels in a pack of fifty and states that brackets are recommended for installation. It also names Wall Panel 84 Trim at 240cm for the exposed edges, and says trim pieces are available separately. Both are listed as their own products, so do not assume either is in the box with the panels. Count your brackets off your own layout rather than off the pack size: fifty is the quantity sold, not a quantity the listing says any particular wall needs.
The questions the listing does not answer
None of these are on the page, and all of them change the job:
- what the wall behind needs to be. Brick, blockwork, render, a timber frame and an existing fence are five different substrates with five different fixings.
- the bracket spacing up a 240cm panel, and whether that spacing changes on an exposed wall.
- whether the panels need a batten or a cavity behind them, or fix straight to the face.
- screw type and length, which the bracket pack may or may not include.
- the panel weight, which is not published, so you cannot work out the load yourself.
Ask the shop for the manufacturer sheet before you order, especially if this is going on anything other than solid masonry. It is a short conversation that stops a pack arriving against a wall it cannot be fixed to.
Dark brown, and the figure worth requesting
The listing describes an engineered composite made for outdoor use, calls the panels UV resistant, and says the construction resists fading, warping and moisture damage. No standard or test figure is quoted against any of it. A dark finish is exactly where a number would be reassuring, so if colour holding matters to you, ask for the colour-fastness data rather than relying on the wording.
Visually, dark brown does something specific with this profile. The slats are 2.4cm wide with a 1.4cm space between them, and in a dark finish those recesses read as near-black lines, which makes the texture stronger from a distance and flatter close up. Judge it from the 84D photographs rather than from a colour name.
The pack figures in one place
| Listed as | Figure |
|---|---|
| Panel size | 16 x 240 x 1cm |
| Pieces per pack | 12 |
| Area covered per pack | 4.61m² |
| Slat width | 2.4cm |
| Space between slats | 1.4cm |
Twelve panels at 16cm by 240cm comes to 4.608m², so the coverage figure is consistent with the 16 being the panel width. The listing does not label the order of those three dimensions, and unlike other packs in this range it does not say whether the long edges overlap once fitted, so confirm both if you are counting panels across a wide run.
Matching and finishing
Either side of this tone, Wall Panel 84C in Light Brown and Wall Panel 84E in Black are the same 240cm twelve-piece pack. For a taller wall, Wall Panel 83D in Dark Brown covers the 180cm and 290cm lengths in packs of six. Trims and brackets sit in outdoor trims and fittings, and the full set in outdoor wall panels.
