Wall Panel 84 Trim: a slim section for 74 and 84 boards
This guide is about
Wall Panel 84 Trim - 240cm - (1 Pack / 10pcs)
Not every trim in this range is the same size, and the difference decides whether one matches your boards. The Wall Panel 84 Trim is one of the slimmer sections: 1.5 x 2.5cm, 240cm long, ten pieces to a pack.
A smaller section than the 73/83 trim
Set the two side by side on paper and the gap is plain. The 73/83 trim is 4 x 4cm; this one is 1.5 x 2.5cm. A shallower border covers less of the board face and less of whatever sits behind it. Neither listing publishes the board thickness its section is cut to cover, so match the trim to the panel code rather than to the colour you think you have, and ask if your boards are not on the list.
Why 240cm changes the sum
Ten lengths at 240cm comes to 24 metres a pack. The number that matters more than the total, though, is the single length. 240cm covers a great many domestic edges in one piece, but it will not run the full height of a 290cm board without a joint. If you are trimming tall vertical edges, count the joints you are willing to look at before you decide this is the right section.
Six finishes, two board families
Each finish names the panels it suits, and between them they cover the 74s and the 84s:
- A Oak — panels 74A and 84A
- B Grey — panels 74B and 84B
- C Light Brown — panel 84C
- D Dark Brown — panels 74D and 84D
- E Black — panels 74E and 84E
- F Khaki — panel 84F
Light Brown and Khaki are listed against 84 only. If your boards are 74s in either of those colours, the match is not on this page, and that is a question worth asking before you buy a trim that is close but not the same.
Measuring, and the order of work
Trim is cut to the panelling, not to the wall. Fit the boards, then measure, then cut: ten millimetres out on the first board moves every edge after it. Before you commit a full pack to a long run, hold one length against a finished edge and look at how it sits. The listing gives the section as 1.5 x 2.5cm but does not say which of the two faces shows, so a trial piece tells you more than the figures can.
The gaps worth a phone call
The material is given as composite and the listing says it resists UV so the colour holds outside. What it does not give: fixings, fixing centres, whether the trim is pinned, screwed or glued, the weight of a pack, and which way round the 1.5 and the 2.5 are meant to face. None of that stops you ordering, and all of it is quicker to settle on the phone than up a ladder.
What else the job needs
The boards are held back with the outdoor panel bracket pack, which lists 84 among the panels it fits. External angles on neighbouring families take their own sections, such as the 73/83 Corner Trim, so if your wall turns a corner, check with the shop which angle is listed for an 84 before you plan it. The borders, caps and corners are together in Outdoor Trims & Fittings, with the boards in Outdoor Wall Panels.
Read the letter off your panel, convert your edges into whole lengths, then add the 10-piece 84 trim pack to the order. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond.
