Wall Panel 82E Black: panelling a media wall or bed wall
This guide is about
Wall Panel 82E - Black - Seamless - 240cm - (1 pack / 12pcs)
Black is the finish people choose when the wall is meant to disappear and the thing on it is meant to stand out. In practice that means a television or a bed, and both arrive with hardware. Wall Panel 82E is 15 x 240 x 1cm, twelve pieces a pack, and the photographs are on the Wall Panel 82E black pack page.
The bracket question, answered before you panel
A 1cm panel is a facing. It is not structure, and the listing makes no claim about carrying any load, so a television bracket has to be fixed to the wall behind it. There are two honest ways to do that and both need deciding now.
- Fix the bracket plate first and cut the panelling around it. The plate stays accessible, the panel sits around it, and the cut edges are hidden behind the screen.
- Panel the wall, then bolt through it into the wall behind with fixings long enough to clear the panel. That is a question for whoever hangs the screen, because it depends on your wall, not on this product page.
The second thing is cables. The listing describes no void, no battens and no cable route, so do not plan on running anything behind a 1cm facing until you have asked. If you want the cables hidden, the wall has to be battened out or chased before the panelling goes on, and that changes the depth you lose from the room. Same thought applies behind a bed: wall lights, a socket for a phone charger, a headboard bracket. Mark them all on the wall before anything is covered.
Pack coverage, and where the joint lands
| As listed | Figure |
|---|---|
| Panel | 15 x 240 x 1cm |
| Pieces per pack | 12 |
| Area per pack | 4.32m² |
| Wall width per pack, at full height (worked out, not listed) | 1.8m |
A chimney breast 1.05m wide is seven pieces, so one pack with five left for the flanks. A 3.6m media wall is twenty-four pieces, which is two packs with nothing over, so order a third if there is a corner to turn. Centre your setting-out on the screen rather than on the wall: a joint running down the middle of a television is the one thing you would notice afterwards.
Black shows an edge that oak forgives
On a wood effect, a cut edge or an unfinished corner reads as part of the pattern. On black it reads as a line. That is the practical argument for trimming the edges properly, and the profile has a piece named for it: Wall Panel 82 Trim, ten lengths of 240cm. Check with us that it suits your edges, then count one length for every exposed vertical edge, every external corner and the top if the panelling stops short of the ceiling.
Other blacks, and what the listing leaves open
If this profile is not the look, Wall Panel 81E in black has the same 15cm face but is listed at 1.8cm thick, sixteen pieces to a pack, and Wall Panel 15E is a black slat panel listed as acoustic, though no measured sound figure is published for it. The oak of this same profile is Wall Panel 82A, and the full set is in Slat & Acoustic Panels.
What this listing does not state: the fixing method, the fire classification, how to cut the panel, how to clean it, and anything at all about sound. Adhesive for Wall Panels is its own listing rather than a recommendation here. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond.
Mark your fixings, settle the cables, then order the panels and the trim together from the Wall Panel 82E listing.
