Wall Panel 82B Grey: setting out cuts before you buy packs

Wall Panel 82B Grey: setting out cuts before you buy packs — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Wall Panel 82B - Grey - Seamless - 240cm - (1 pack / 12pcs)

View the product

A wall is almost never a whole number of panels wide. Work out where the part piece goes before you order, and the job becomes arithmetic rather than improvisation. Wall Panel 82B is 15 x 240 x 1cm with twelve pieces to a pack, and the Wall Panel 82B grey pack page has the photographs.

Count in pieces of fifteen

Take the wall width in centimetres and divide by fifteen. A 3.3m wall is exactly twenty-two pieces, so two packs give you twenty-four and two in hand. A 3.4m wall is twenty-two pieces and a 10cm strip, and that strip is the whole question: do you put it in the corner behind a wardrobe, or do you take 5cm off each end piece so the wall reads as centred on the chimney breast? Decide it on paper. It changes nothing about the pack count and everything about how the wall looks.

Unlike the fluted panels in this range, this listing does not add the words when fitted and interlocked to its 15cm, so confirm with us whether that is the covered width or the width of a loose piece. It does not label which of its three figures is the thickness either, so settle that in the same message. If your setting-out depends on the last piece fitting a measured gap, that is a call worth making first.

Sockets, switches and window reveals

Every obstacle on the wall lands on a 15cm piece, and that is where the planning pays.

  • A single socket is narrower than a panel, so it can be cut from one piece if you set out so the plate sits in the middle of a piece rather than over a joint.
  • A double socket is close to the full width of a piece, so unless a piece is centred on it the cut-out spans the joint between two. Nothing wrong with that, but the joint is visible, so run it centrally through the plate rather than clipping a corner of it. Measure your own faceplate before you set out.
  • A window reveal needs a return piece or a strip, and the listing does not say whether the panel can be cut down its length or how a return is formed. Ask before you plan panelling into a reveal.
  • Radiator brackets and a TV plate fix to the wall behind, not to a 1cm facing. Know where they are before you cover them up.

The listing also says nothing about how to cut the panel or with what blade, so if you are fitting it yourself, ask us rather than finding out on your first piece.

Grey is a wide word

This panel is listed simply as grey. Elsewhere in the range there are light greys, mid greys and dark greys, and no listing promises that any two of them match: Wall Panel 80B is a light grey with a fluted face, and Wall Panel 63B is grey in a different PVC board. If you are panelling two walls, or turning a corner, order one code in one go. If you are matching paint or a carpet, send us the reference and we will compare it against the panel rather than against a photograph.

Trims, and the order to place

The finishing piece named for this profile is Wall Panel 82 Trim, ten lengths of 240cm. Confirm it suits your edges, then count one length per exposed vertical edge, per external corner, and for the top if the panelling stops below the ceiling. Adhesive for Wall Panels is listed separately and this page does not state a fixing method, so ask what is right for your wall. Not published anywhere on the listing: fire classification, and any sound figure, which this panel does not claim.

The oak version is Wall Panel 82A, and the rest of the range is in Slat & Acoustic Panels. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond.

Sketch the wall, mark the sockets, count the pieces, then order from the Wall Panel 82B listing. Send us the sketch and we will check it with you.
