Wall Panel 73A Oak 03: how it compares with the 83A board
This guide is about
Wall Panel 73A - Oak 03 - Outdoor - 290cm - (1 pack / 6pcs)
Anyone comparing outdoor cladding on this site runs into the same question quickly: the 73 and 83 series look alike on paper, so what is the difference? For the Wall Panel 73A in Oak 03 the honest answer is that the published figures are identical to the 83A and the distinction lies elsewhere.
What the two listings share
| Figure | 73A Oak 03 |
|---|---|
| Board size | 21 x 290 x 2.5cm |
| Pieces per pack | 6 |
| Area covered per pack | 3.65m² |
| Slat width | 3.5cm |
| Space between slats | 1.5cm |
Every one of those figures is also quoted on the 83A listings, for the 290cm option. Both describe a composite board for outside use and both say the panels are UV resistant, so the choice is not a performance one as far as either page goes. One difference to note before you add parts to the order: this 73A listing names a trim, a corner and a bracket, and so does the 83A in Oak 03, but the 83A in Oak 02 names the bracket only.
Where they part company
- Lengths offered. The 73A comes in 290cm only. The 83A is listed in 290cm and 180cm, so on a low wall it can save you cutting 110cm off every board.
- Finish codes. This board is Oak 03. The 83A appears as Oak 03 and as Oak 02, which are two different finishes under one panel code. If a wall is going to use both series, that is the detail to pin down first.
- What the pages leave out. Neither listing illustrates the slat profile in section, and neither says how many slats a board carries. If the two series differ in the depth or shape of the slat, the pages do not record it. Ask the shop, because a photograph on a screen will not settle it.
One pack, 3.65m², and what that clads
A pack of six 290cm boards at 21cm wide covers 3.65m². In round terms, two packs do a wall roughly 2.5m wide by 2.9m high with the boards upright and nothing cut out of it. Three packs take you to just under 11m². Note that the coverage is calculated on the full board width, with nothing deducted where one board meets the next, so round up and check with the shop whether the fitted width is less than 21cm before you order exactly to the figure.
Trim, corner and bracket
The listing names three separate parts, none included with the boards. The 73/83 Trim in 290cm lists an Oak 03 finish named for panels 73A, 83A and 87A, which is the match for this board. The 73/83 Corner Trim at 4 x 4 x 290cm closes an external angle, three lengths to a pack. The outdoor panel brackets come 50 to a pack and are recommended for fitting, though no spacing is published, so ask how many your run wants.
What to confirm before ordering
The page's performance wording is UV resistance plus a general weather-resistant durability, with no figure behind either. There is no weight, no fire rating, no fixing centre and no guidance on substrate, and if the job has to meet a specification those are questions to ask rather than infer. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond.
If your wall is under 2m high, compare the shorter 83 option before committing. Otherwise the Wall Panel 73A Oak 03 outdoor panel page has the photographs, and the outdoor wall panel range shows the other finishes in both series.
