Wall Panel 64T Walnut: what the acoustic label does not say

Wall Panel 64T Walnut: what the acoustic label does not say — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Wall Panel 64T - Walnut - Acoustic - 240cm - (1 pack / 8pcs)

View the product

On this listing the name and the description do not agree, and it is worth knowing before you spend anything. The name carries the word acoustic. The description underneath it describes a PVC wall panel and never mentions sound at all. Both are on the Wall Panel 64T walnut pack page, and you can read them yourself.

Acoustic in the title, PVC in the description

What the description actually says is that the panel is PVC with a wood-effect finish, that there are eight pieces of 240cm to a pack, and that it resists moisture, fading and daily wear. There is no mention of a felt or fleece backing, no absorption class, no coefficient, no decibel figure. That absence is the point: nothing in the listing supports buying this panel to quieten a room.

It may well have an acoustic backing and the description may simply be shared wording from the other PVC boards in the same numbering. We are not going to guess on your behalf. If sound is the reason you are panelling, ask us to confirm what is on the back of this board before you order, and ask the same question of any panel whose name includes the word acoustic, because none of them publish a measured figure either.

Walnut in the name, oak effect in the description

The same shared wording explains the second oddity. The panel is named walnut; the description refers to oak effect colouration. Treat the name and the photographs as the guide to the colour, and treat the description as a general account of the material. If you are matching walnut you already own, that is a conversation and a close look, not something a product page can settle.

What the figures do tell you

The measurements are clear and they are the solid part of this listing.

FigureAs listed
Panel size30 x 240 x 1cm
Pieces per pack8
Coverage per pack5.76m²
Wall width faced at full height (worked out from the figures above)2.4m

Eight boards at 30cm is 2.4m of wall, at the full 240cm height. A 2.2m alcove is one pack and no more: seven whole boards, with the eighth cut down to 10cm. A 5m wall is three packs, with 2.2m of board left for the returns and the mistakes. The listing gives the order as 30 x 240 x 1cm, which reads as face width, length and thickness, but it does not label them, so confirm which figure is which with us before you cut anything.

If sound is the point, and if the look is

For a walnut wall where the finish is what matters, Wall Panel 61T in walnut is another PVC panel of the same size in the same part of the range, though its own description talks about slats and an oak effect, so ask before you treat it as a flat walnut board. Wall Panel 64D in dark oak is this board's stablemate at the same size. For a slatted walnut face, Wall Panel 17T is a wide-slat panel listed as acoustic, with the same caveat about measured figures. The whole wall of choices is in Slat & Acoustic Panels.

Nothing in the catalogue carries a 64 trim, so ask what finishes the edges and corners of this profile at the same time. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond.

The photographs are the closest guide to the colour, and they are on the Wall Panel 64T listing. Ask us the acoustic question in the same message as your wall width and you will get both answers at once.
