Wall Panel 64D Dark Oak: 30cm boards and the pack sum

Wall Panel 64D Dark Oak: 30cm boards and the pack sum — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Wall Panel 64D - Dark Oak - PVC - 240cm - (1 pack / 8pcs)

View the product

Wall Panel 64D is a 30cm board: 30 x 240 x 1cm, eight pieces to a pack, 5.76m² of cover. That is twice the face width of the 15cm fluted boards in the same range, though the slatted panels here are listed wider again. The width is the whole argument for it, and it changes both how the finished wall reads and how many pieces you handle. Photographs and the full listing sit on the Wall Panel 64D dark oak pack page.

Eight boards, 2.4 metres, seven joints

The sum is worth doing before anything else. Eight boards at 30cm across is 240cm of wall width, and each board is 240cm long, so one pack faces a square 2.4m wide by 2.4m high. That is exactly the 5.76m² quoted, and it is the figure to plan from rather than the area of your room.

So a 3.1m bedroom wall is two packs with five boards spare, and a 4.6m living room wall is two packs with nothing spare at all, because it takes all sixteen boards with the last one cut down to 10cm. That is the kind of near miss that catches people out. Count in boards, not metres: your wall width in centimetres divided by 30, rounded up, then add one board for the cut you get wrong.

Where a 30cm face helps, and where it does not

  • Seven joints across a 2.4m run, where a 15cm board would give you fifteen. The narrower profiles in the same range give a much busier vertical rhythm. If you want the wall to read as a surface rather than as stripes, width is how you get there.
  • It goes up faster on a clear wall. Fewer pieces to line up, fewer edges to keep plumb.
  • It is less forgiving around obstacles. A chimney breast, boxed pipework or a meter cupboard means cutting into a 30cm board rather than a narrow one, and every awkward cut costs more of the pack.
  • The last board rarely lands whole. Decide early whether the part board goes in the corner nobody looks at, or whether you trim both ends equally so the wall reads as centred.

A 240cm length is also an awkward thing to carry through a hall and up a turn in the stairs. Measure that route, not just the wall.

Read the name and the description side by side

Two details in the wording repay a second look. The name is dark oak; the description talks about 'seamless oak effect colouration' without naming a shade, which tells you it is wording shared across the 64 boards rather than a description of this one. Judge the colour from the photographs, and ask us to compare it against anything you are matching before a wall's worth arrives.

The material is given as PVC with a wood-effect finish, and the listing says it resists moisture, fading and daily wear. What it does not give: a fire classification, a fixing method, a cleaning product, or the joint profile. Read 'seamless' as a claim about colour running consistently from board to board, not as a promise that no joint will be visible.

Edges, fixings and what sits beside it

No trim in the catalogue carries the 64 code, so do not assume a strip listed for another profile will suit this one. Count your exposed vertical edges, external corners and the top edge if the panelling stops short of the ceiling, then ask us what finishes them. Adhesive for Wall Panels is sold separately, though this listing does not state how the board should be fixed, so check that it is the right thing for a 1cm PVC board on your wall before adding it.

Its stablemate is Wall Panel 64T in walnut, the same size and pack count. For another dark oak in the same family of PVC boards there is Wall Panel 62D, and the rest of the finishes are in Slat & Acoustic Panels. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond.

When you have your board count, the photographs and figures are on the Wall Panel 64D listing. Send us your wall width and where the obstacles are, and we will check the pack count with you before you order.
