Wall Panel 63A Oak: the fitted width that changes your pack count

Wall Panel 63A Oak: the fitted width that changes your pack count — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Wall Panel 63A - Oak - PVC - 240cm - (1 pack / 8pcs)

Most panel listings give one width. Wall Panel 63A in oak gives two, and the difference between them is the single most useful thing on the page. The panel is 30cm wide on its own and 25.5cm wide once it is fitted and interlocked with its neighbour, because the tongue and groove joint takes 4.5cm of it. Order from the wrong figure and you will be short.

The coverage figure confirms it. A fitted panel face of 0.255m by 2.4m is 0.612m², and eight of those come to the 4.9m² the listing quotes. This is the honest way round for a listing to do it, and it is worth noticing because elsewhere in this range the coverage is quoted from the loose width instead.

A pack covers 2.04m of wall, not 2.4m

Eight fitted panels at 25.5cm give 204cm of wall width. If you sized the job on the 30cm figure you would have expected 240cm from a pack, and on a 2.4m wall that is two panels short. Some worked examples, all rounded up as they must be:

2.4m102
3.0m122
4.0m162
5.0m203

Height is simpler. At 240cm the panel suits a standard ceiling, but measure yours at both ends of the wall, because a reading over 240cm means the top of the panel needs a trim or a deliberate gap rather than a stretch.

The trims this panel names

The listing names two parts by name: Wall Panel 63 Trim and Wall Panel 63 Corner Strip. Ask for them by those names, because a trim from another series is not designed around a 63 panel's tongue and groove. The listing gives no quantities, so measure your exposed edges and your corners first and let the shop work out the lengths. The one place a trim is not optional is a cut edge, since cutting a panel to width removes either its tongue or its groove. The listing does not say how that cut edge looks or whether it needs sealing, so plan on covering it and ask the shop which of the two named parts does the job.

Kitchens, bathrooms and what the moisture wording covers

This listing goes further than most in the range on where the panels suit. It describes them as moisture resistant and names kitchens, bathrooms and commercial rooms, and it says the tongue and groove joint keeps the colour continuous across an installation without a visible joint line. What it does not give is a rating, a test standard or any instruction on sealing an edge against a worktop or a bath. So the fitted look is described, the performance is not measured, and a shower surround is a question for the shop rather than an assumption. Fixing method and panel weight are also absent, which matters on plasterboard. The shop stocks Adhesive for Wall Panels and can say what suits your substrate.

If you would rather not have an interlocking panel

The same 63 panel comes in grey and walnut, both with the same fitted width and coverage. If you want the simpler maths of a straight butt joint, Wall Panel 62A in oak is the same 30cm width with its coverage quoted at 5.76m² and Strip A as its trim. Trims and corner strips are grouped under panel trims and fittings, and the wider set is on the slat and acoustic panels page.
