Wall Panel 62A Oak PVC: pack coverage and how to measure
This guide is about
Wall Panel 62A - Oak - PVC - 240cm - (1 pack / 8pcs)
Wall Panel 62A is an oak effect PVC panel that the shop supplies in packs of eight. The listing gives three figures worth planning around: 30 x 240 x 1cm per panel, eight pieces in the pack, and 5.76m² of coverage. That is enough to work out what your wall needs before you order anything, which is what this post does. The photographs and the full specification are on the Wall Panel 62A oak PVC panel page.
What one pack covers
| Figure | As the listing states it |
|---|---|
| Panel size | 30 x 240 x 1cm per panel |
| Pieces per pack | 8 |
| Area covered | 5.76m² per pack |
| Trim | Strip A |
Read the panel size as width, then height, then thickness: 30cm across, 240cm tall, 1cm deep. The listing does not label which figure is which, so if getting it the wrong way round would spoil the order, confirm it with the shop. Note also that the coverage figure is exactly the flat face of the eight panels, since 0.30m multiplied by 2.40m comes to 0.72m² and eight of those make 5.76m². Nothing has been deducted for an overlap at the joints. Elsewhere in this range a listing that interlocks quotes a second, narrower fitted width as well; this one quotes only the one figure, so ask how 62A meets the panel beside it before you settle on a quantity.
Turning the coverage into a pack count
Eight panels of 30cm give 240cm of wall width per pack, at the panel's own 240cm height. One pack therefore does a wall 2.4m across and 2.4m high. From there the sums are short:
- A 3m wall at full height wants 10 panels, so two packs, with six panels left over.
- A 3.6m chimney breast and its returns wants 12 panels, again two packs.
- A 4.8m wall wants 16 panels, which is two packs exactly and leaves nothing in reserve.
On that last one, order the third pack. A panel cut short cannot be uncut, and the listing makes no promise that a later order will come from the same colour batch.
Three measurements to take first
- Height at both ends and in the middle. The panel is 240cm. Floors and ceilings are seldom parallel, and if any of your three readings comes out above 240cm you need a trim or a shadow gap at the top, not a stretched panel.
- Width at the ceiling and again at skirting level. The difference between the two tells you how much scribing the last panel needs.
- What the wall already carries. At 1cm thick the finished face stands a centimetre proud of the plaster. Check that socket and switch plates will still sit clear of it, and look at how the panel is going to meet skirting, architrave and any window reveal.
What the 62A listing does not tell you
These are the questions that come back after delivery, so they are better asked before it.
- No sound figure. 62A is a PVC panel and its listing makes no acoustic claim of any kind. If quietening a room is the reason you are panelling, ask about the panels listed as acoustic instead, such as Wall Panel 01A in natural oak, and ask the shop what they are backed with and what they are measured at.
- Moisture. The listing describes the panels as resistant to moisture, fading and daily wear, and calls them suitable for both homes and commercial rooms. It quotes no rating or test behind that wording, so for a splashback, a utility room or anything near a shower, ask the shop first.
- Fixing and weight. Neither is stated. The shop stocks Adhesive for Wall Panels, and the right fixing depends on whether you are going onto plaster, plasterboard or something damp, so raise it with your measurements to hand.
- Trim quantities. Strip A is named as the trim, but the listing does not say how many lengths a wall of a given size takes.
Matching panels and edge trims
62A is the oak of the 62 series, and the same panel appears in other finishes: 62D in dark oak and 62T in walnut are both eight-piece packs at the same panel size. If you would rather the panels locked together, Wall Panel 63A is the oak PVC panel with a tongue and groove, and because it quotes a fitted width of 25.5cm the pack maths above change. Edge strips and corner strips live under panel trims and fittings, and the rest of the panels under slat and acoustic panels.
Delivery is free within 50 miles of the Glasgow store and £50 beyond, and the shop will tell you the current lead time when you order. Once your measurements are settled, the Wall Panel 62A pack of eight is the page to order from.
