Wall Panel 61T Walnut: edges, corners and the Strip A trim

Wall Panel 61T Walnut: edges, corners and the Strip A trim — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Wall Panel 61T - Walnut - PVC - 240cm - (1 pack / 8pcs)

View the product

A slatted wall is judged where it stops. Wall Panel 61T in walnut effect is PVC, eight panels to a pack at 30 x 240 x 1cm, 5.76m² a pack, with slats 2.4cm wide and 1.4cm between them. The panels are the easy part of the order. The edges are where these jobs go wrong, and this listing names one trim, Strip A, without saying what it does.

Count your edges before you count your panels

  1. Ends. Anywhere the run stops partway along a wall you see the panel's cut edge and the open end of every slat.
  2. Internal corners. Where two panelled walls meet, or where panelling runs into a return.
  3. External corners. A chimney breast has two, and they are the most exposed edge in any room.
  4. Top edge. If the panelling stops below the ceiling, that line needs resolving rather than leaving.
  5. Openings. Door and window reveals each bring their own edges.

Write the length of each one down. This listing does not say what length Strip A comes in or how many are in a pack, so that list is what we need in order to tell you how many to put on the order with the panels.

What Strip A is, and what to ask

The listing names Strip A as the trim for this panel and goes no further. It does not say whether that is an end profile, a corner profile or a joining strip, what finish it comes in, or what length it is sold in. Ask us before you order, because the wrong profile is the one component that cannot be fudged on site. If an edge has to be mitred or scribed instead, that is better known at the planning stage than on the day.

Narrow panels, more seams

At 30cm each, a panel is half the width of the 60cm boards elsewhere in the range, so a 2.4m wall takes eight of them and shows seven vertical joints. On a walnut-effect face those read as part of the pattern, and the 3.8cm slat repeat gives you some freedom over where a seam lands. It does also mean more edges to trim if the run turns a corner. At 1cm thick the panel sits close to the wall, which keeps the detailing simple where it meets a skirting or an architrave.

Walnut here and elsewhere in the range

The same walnut name appears on the neighbouring code 62T and on the felt-backed 42WT, which is a different material at a different thickness and carries a sound absorption claim this listing does not make. Two walnuts from different groups will not necessarily read as one finish, so if two walls in a room need different panels, ask us to check the faces against each other first. Within this group the description is shared and mentions oak texture whatever the colour, so trust the three photographs on the page for the tone.

Ordering it

Divide the wall width by 30cm, round up to whole panels, then up to a pack of eight, and send your edge list along with the measurements. No fire classification and no fixing method are given on the listing, so ask about both and tell us what the wall is built of. Panel adhesive is sold separately and is not named as this panel's fixing. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond. The figures, the photographs and the order form are on the Wall Panel 61T walnut page, with the full group in Slat & Acoustic Panels.
