Wall Panel 61B Light Grey: settle the finish before ordering
This guide is about
Wall Panel 61B - Light Grey - PVC - 240cm - (1 pack / 8pcs)
Read the Wall Panel 61B listing closely and it contradicts itself. The product is named light grey; the description underneath talks about oak effect slats with an oak texture, the same wording carried across this whole PVC group. One of those is copy that has not been changed for the colour. Three photographs are published, and on a question of finish the photographs are the evidence, not the paragraph.
What to settle before you order
- Is the face a plain light grey, or a grey wood effect with a grain showing through? Those two look very different across a whole wall.
- If there is a grain, how strong is it, and does the grey read warm or cool against your paint?
- What colour is the backing behind the slats? The description mentions a black reinforcement, which on a light grey face would show as a dark line in every gap. That may be exactly the effect you want, or the opposite.
Send us that question with the room in mind and we will answer it from the panel rather than from the listing. If a plain grey with no grain is the requirement and this one turns out to be a wood effect, say so and we will point you at something closer.
The figures, which are not in doubt
- Panel 30 x 240 x 1cm, eight pieces a pack
- 5.76m² covered per pack, which is 2.4m of wall at full height
- Slat width 2.4cm, space between slats 1.4cm, so a 3.8cm repeat
- PVC, trim named as Strip A, code AWS-WP0361
At 1cm this is a thin panel, 0.7cm shallower than the felt-backed lines in the same range, and that is the practical argument for the whole PVC group. Whether it will land on your existing skirting, or clear a door that opens back flat against the wall, depends on your own mouldings rather than on the panel, so measure those before you decide.
No sound claim on this one
Worth saying plainly, because the category name covers both kinds of panel. This listing makes no claim about absorbing sound. The panels in the range that are described as absorbing sound are the ones with a felt backing, so if noise is the reason for panelling, read a listing that says so. 15B is the acoustic-named panel in a comparable light grey; check its own page for its construction and figures rather than reading these across. What this one is described as instead is moisture and wear resistant, which is a different argument for a different room.
Measuring and ordering
Divide the wall width by 30cm, round up to a whole panel and then up to a whole pack of eight. Measure the height at both ends, because 240cm is a trim-to-fit length rather than a fixed one. Count your visible edges and corners separately and ask which trim finishes each. Nothing on the page states a fire classification or a fixing method, so ask about both and tell us the wall type. Order the whole wall together, since nothing promises a later batch will match. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond. The photographs are the thing to look at, and they are on the Wall Panel 61B light grey page, with the neighbouring code 62B and the oak-effect 61A beside it in Slat & Acoustic Panels.
