Wall Panel 41H Oak: measure, order, then book the fitter
This guide is about
Wall Panel 41H - Oak - Acoustic - 240cm - (1 pack / 4pcs)
Most of what goes wrong on a first panelled wall happens before anyone picks up a saw. The Wall Panel 41H in oak is a straightforward panel to work with, four pieces to a pack at 60 x 240 x 1.7cm, but it still rewards doing things in the right sequence.
Do it in this order
- Measure the height before the width. Floor to ceiling, in at least three places. The panel is 240cm, so anything taller than that needs an infill, a trim at the top or a taller panel from elsewhere in the range, and that decision changes what you buy.
- Decide where the panelling stops. At the skirting, over it, or floor to ceiling with the skirting removed and refitted. Each answer changes the trim list and the amount you cut off.
- Count in sixties. Width divided by 60, rounded up, is your panel count. Then divide by four for packs.
- Order the panels, the adhesive and the trims together. Buying the panels together makes a single batch likelier, and the strips are much easier to buy now than when the wall is up and one corner is bare.
- Book the fitter last, once you have confirmed timing with the shop. A fitter standing in front of a wall with no panels is the expensive version of this job.
The dimensions as published
| Panel size | 60 x 240 x 1.7cm per panel |
|---|---|
| Pieces per pack | 4 |
| Area covered | 5.76m² per pack |
| Construction | HDF slats on a felt backing |
Worth knowing what is not there: the listing gives no slat width and no spacing between slats, so the rhythm of the wall is something to see in the photographs or ask about, particularly if you are matching a panelled wall elsewhere in the house. The 1.7cm thickness is the figure the fitting hinges on, since every socket, switch and architrave on that wall finishes 1.7cm behind the new face.
Sound: a description, not a measurement
The description says the HDF slats and felt backing absorb sound and reduce noise transmission. That is a statement about the construction. No absorption coefficient, no test standard and no measured figure accompanies it, and nobody should promise you one on this listing's evidence. Softening the echo inside a room and stopping noise coming through a wall from next door are two different jobs, and nothing on this listing says how far it gets with either, so ask what data the supplier holds before you commit.
What to compare it against
Oak turns up several times in this range, under several different codes. 41WT in walnut is the same panel with the darker name. Wall Panel 42H is another oak on the same published figures, and neither listing says how the two profiles differ, so that one is a photograph comparison. Wall Panel 01A in natural oak is the same 240cm height and does publish its slat figures, if you want numbers rather than photographs. The whole set sits in slat and acoustic panels.
On the day the pack arrives
Open every pack and check the faces before anything is cut, and raise any damage with the shop before you start. Stand them flat or upright indoors, not leaning across a cold garage, and let them sit in the room they are going into. Check the oak reads the same across all four panels in daylight rather than under a work light. Then dry-lay the wall from the plumb line out, mark the end cut, and only then start fixing with the wall panel adhesive and the strips from panel trims and fittings, where each trim is listed against the panel numbers it suits, so check which one fits this panel.
When the height is checked and the panel count is settled, order the Wall Panel 41H oak acoustic panel for the whole wall in one go. Delivery is free within 50 miles of the Glasgow store and £50 beyond.
