Grey is what people choose when the room already has enough wood in it. The Wall Panel 08F in grey is the grey face of the block-pattern board in the Slat & Acoustic Panels range: HDF with a felt backing and an intricate mandala pattern, four pieces to a pack at 60 x 240 x 1.7cm each. The listing quotes no slat width or gap for it, and does not say whether the pattern is cut into the face or printed on it.

Why grey rather than one of the wood finishes

The same pattern is listed in oak, dark oak and walnut. The case for grey is practical. A wood-finish panel has to agree with the floor, the doors and anything else wooden in the room, and a near miss between two browns shows up far more across a whole wall than it does on a single piece of furniture. Grey avoids that argument, and leaves the floor as the only wood note in the room.

What the listing will not do is pin the grey down. There is no shade name, no reference and nothing to say whether it leans warm or blue. Judge it from the photographs, and ask us to check the tone against something you already own before a whole wall goes on order, because a screen is not reliable for a mid grey.

What one pack holds

Area covered5.76m² per pack

Four faces at 60cm make a 2.4m run at the panel's full height, which is where the 5.76m² comes from. Take the wall width in centimetres, divide by 60 and round up: a 3.4m wall wants six panels, so two packs with two left over. It is sold as a pack of four, so order in whole packs.

A patterned face wants a centre line

Plain slats forgive a lazy start. A pattern does not. Mark the middle of the wall, work outwards from it so the offcuts land at both ends in matching widths, and dry-lay the whole pack on the floor before anything is fixed. The listing does not say whether the pattern carries on across a joint or restarts on each panel, and that is exactly what you want to see on the floor rather than on the wall.

Two notes on depth while the plan is still on paper. The board stands 1.7cm off the plaster, so socket and switch faceplates have to come forward onto the new face. And nothing in the listing describes how the pattern behaves at a cut edge, so if the wall turns an external corner, ask us before you commit to that layout.

Sound: what is claimed and what is not

The listing calls the panel acoustic and says the felt backing absorbs sound. It quotes no absorption coefficient, no acoustic class and no test standard, and says nothing about fire performance or moisture. In plain terms, the listing makes a claim and publishes nothing to measure it by, so it is not evidence that a studio or a meeting room will meet a written specification. Where a number has to be met, ask us for the supplier's data and buy on that. The listing does not offer it for a bathroom or an outside wall.

The matching finishes, and the fixing question

The pattern runs through Wall Panel 08A in oak, 08D in dark oak and 08T in walnut, all listed at 240cm and four pieces to a pack, so the geometry stays put while the tone changes. The listing names the Wall Panel PVC Trim Acoustic for the edges and no fixing method at all, so tell us what the wall is built of, plaster, plasterboard or batten, and we will say whether the panel adhesive is the right answer for it.
