Wall Panel 07W Walnut: flat wood-effect board, measured up

Wall Panel 07W Walnut: flat wood-effect board, measured up — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Wall Panel 07W - Walnut - Wall Board - 240cm - (1 pack / 4pcs)

View the product

There are two ways to get a walnut wall from the slat and acoustic panel range, and they are not interchangeable. The Wall Panel 07W in Walnut is the flat one: the listing describes PVC with a wood-effect finish and a tongue and groove joint, 0.7cm thick, and mentions neither slats nor a felt backing. The slatted walnut panels are a different product with a different job.

The figures from the listing

Read the size as width, height and thickness: 60cm wide, 240cm tall, 0.7cm proud of the wall. The listing describes the board as suited to kitchens, bathrooms and commercial spaces where moisture resistance matters, and says nothing further about performance.

Flat walnut board or walnut slats

The decision comes down to depth and to sound. This board is 0.7cm thick with a flat face, so there are no slat gaps to collect dust, it keeps a narrow room narrow, and it reads as one continuous surface from any angle. A slatted walnut panel such as the Wall Panel 02WT Walnut stands 1.7cm off the wall, is described as felt-backed and sound absorbing, and changes appearance as you walk past it because the shadows move. No sound claim at all is made for this board, so where the aim is to take the hardness out of a room, the slatted panel is the one to look at. Where the aim is a clean wood-effect surface in a kitchen, a utility room or a cloakroom, this is.

What a pack covers, and the one figure to check

Four panels at 60cm nominal width reach about 2.4m across at full height:

  • Up to 2.4m wide: one pack
  • Up to 4.8m wide: two packs
  • Up to 7.2m wide: three packs

The 5.76m² in the listing is the nominal area of the four panels. Because a tongue and groove joint engages each panel into the next, the finished cover across a run can be a little under four times 60cm, and the listing does not state the covered width. Ask the shop for that figure if a run has to finish exactly on a corner, and in any case count panels across the wall rather than dividing wall area by 5.76.

Trims, and the other faces on this board

The listing names a PVC end strip and a PVC corner strip in a matching T Walnut, both at 240cm, and aluminium end, corner and I strips in black, gold or silver at 300cm. The aluminium profiles are longer than the panel, so one length can run past a joint. The choice is cosmetic as much as practical: a black or gold aluminium edge is a deliberate line against the walnut, while the colour-matched PVC strip is the quieter option. Pack quantities differ between the profiles, so check what you actually need in the panel trims and fittings range before ordering.

Every board in this group shares the 60 x 240 x 0.7cm panel and the four-piece pack, so they can meet at a corner without a step. The Wall Panel 07M Cream is the plain alternative, the Wall Panel 07B Grey Marble a cooler patterned face, and the Wall Panel 07C Gold and Black Marble the boldest of them. Walnut reads as a surface rather than as a pattern, which is the argument for putting it on the larger wall and keeping a marble face for a smaller area.

What the listing does not say

No fire rating, no panel weight, no fixing method, no cleaning guidance, and nothing about use inside a shower enclosure or in direct contact with water. Moisture resistance is mentioned only in general terms. There is no sound absorption claim and no statement of how often the walnut print repeats from panel to panel, which is worth asking about on a wide wall. Put those questions to the shop before ordering, along with the current lead time.

Settle the trim material, count the panels, then order the Wall Panel 07W Walnut wall board from its product page. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond.
