Wall Panel 07M Cream: a flat PVC board, not a slat panel

Not everything in the slat and acoustic panel range is slatted. The Wall Panel 07M in Cream is a flat wall board: the listing describes PVC with a wood-effect finish and a tongue and groove joint, and at 0.7cm it is less than half the thickness of the acoustic panels it sits beside. That matters more than the colour, because a flat board and a slat panel solve different problems.

The figures from the listing

Read the panel size as width, height and thickness: 60cm wide, 240cm tall, 0.7cm thick. The listing describes it as suited to kitchens, bathrooms and commercial spaces where moisture resistance matters, and that is the extent of what it says about performance.

Flat board or slat panel

Three practical differences, all of them from the figures rather than from opinion. The board takes 0.7cm off the room against 1.7cm for the acoustic panels, which is worth having in a narrow hallway or a small bathroom. Its face is flat rather than ribbed, so there are no slat gaps across it to collect dust. And no sound claim is made for it at all: the slatted panels in this category are described as felt-backed and sound absorbing, while this one is not, so if the point of the job is to soften a hard room, this is the wrong panel.

How far a pack goes

Four panels at 60cm nominal width give roughly 2.4m of wall at full height:

• Up to 2.4m wide: one pack
• Up to 4.8m wide: two packs
• Up to 7.2m wide: three packs

One caution the listing does not cover. The 5.76m² figure is the nominal area of four panels, and a tongue and groove joint engages one panel into the next, so the finished cover across a run can be slightly less than four times 60cm. Do not plan a wall to the last millimetre on that figure, and ask the shop for the finished cover width if a run has to land exactly on a corner.

Trims, and the other boards in the group

The listing names more fittings than most panels in the range, in two materials. The PVC strips match the cream finish and are listed at 240cm, the same height as the panel. The aluminium end, corner and I strips come in black, gold or silver at 300cm, which is longer than the panel, so a single strip can run past a joint. Decide the look before you order, because an aluminium edge in black or gold is a visible line on a cream wall while the PVC strip is colour-matched to the panel. Browse the panel trims and fittings range for the profiles, and ask the shop to confirm which strip suits your layout, since the pack quantities differ between them.

The same board is listed in several faces, and cream is the quietest of them. The Wall Panel 07A White Marble is the nearest alternative in a pale tone with a pattern, the Wall Panel 07D Gold and White Marble adds gold to the same white marble, and the Wall Panel 07W Walnut is the wood-effect version of the same board. All share the 60 x 240 x 0.7cm panel and the four-piece pack, so they can be mixed across walls without a step at the corner.

What the listing does not say

No fire rating, no panel weight, no fixing method and no cleaning guidance are given, and nothing is stated about use inside a shower enclosure or in direct contact with water. The description mentions moisture resistance in general terms only. There is no sound absorption claim, and no statement of how the wood-effect print repeats from panel to panel. If the room is a bathroom or a commercial kitchen with a specification to meet, ask the shop before you order, and ask for the current lead time.
