Wall Panel 010C Antique Metallic Brown: ordering a whole wall

Wall Panel 010C Antique Metallic Brown: ordering a whole wall — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Wall Panel 010C - Antique Metallic Brown - Acoustic - 240cm - (1 pack / 4pcs)

View the product

Wall Panel 010C - Antique Metallic Brown is an acoustic panel in the Slat & Acoustic Panels range, code AWS-WP039. The listing gives 60 x 240 x 1.7cm per panel, four pieces to a pack and 5.76m² of coverage, and describes HDF slats with a felt backing in an ornate, distinctive design.

Order the whole wall in one go

The listing says nothing about whether shade is matched between production runs, so work out the full quantity for the wall, add a spare panel, and order it together rather than buying a pack now and a pack later. If you do have to order again afterwards, ask the shop whether the second lot will come from the same batch.

Where the spare column reads zero, add a pack or accept that a mis-cut around a socket stops the job. The 5.76m² per pack figure is four panels at 0.6m by 2.4m, so it only describes a full-height wall; if you are panelling to a lower line, count panels and ignore the square metres.

Where a brown metallic finish sits

Brown is the warmest of the three antique metallic panels and it does something specific in a room: it takes the chill off a grey or black scheme without going as bright as the gold version. It also competes with wood. If the room already has an oak floor, an oak door and oak furniture, a brown metallic panel is a fourth brown and the wall can start to read as muddled. Against painted joinery, a dark floor or a plain carpet it has more room to work.

Look at the panel in the light the room actually gets. The listing describes the finish as metallic and says no more than that, so how it reads under a downlight and in flat daylight is something to see for yourself; a photograph on a screen will not settle it.

Check these before the order goes in

  • Slat width and spacing. Not published for this panel, although the 01-series listings do give theirs. If the rhythm of the profile matters to your layout, ask for the figures.
  • Depth at the edges. At 1.7cm this is slightly thicker than the 1.5cm slat panels. Check the door architrave, the window reveal and any socket on that wall; a face plate flush with the plaster will end up recessed.
  • Acoustic performance. The description claims sound absorption but publishes no NRC or αw value and no test standard. Ask for the manufacturer's data if a room has a target to meet.
  • Fixing and cutting. No method is stated. Ask what suits your wall, and whether the panel can be cut between slats.
  • Edge trim. No matching trim is named on this listing, so ask what finishes a cut top edge or an external corner on a 1.7cm panel.

The matching finishes

The other two panels in the same ornate profile are Wall Panel 010A - Antique Metallic Grey and Wall Panel 010B - Antique Metallic Gold, both on the same 60 x 240 x 1.7cm panel. For a plain slat in a similar colour, Wall Panel 01WF - Metallic Brown is the simpler option. Adhesive for Wall Panels is a separate line. Delivery is free within 50 miles of the Glasgow store and £50 beyond.
