Wall Panel 010A Antique Metallic Grey: depth, coverage and fit
This guide is about
Wall Panel 010A - Antique Metallic Grey - Acoustic - 240cm - (1 pack / 4pcs)
Wall Panel 010A - Antique Metallic Grey is an acoustic panel in the Slat & Acoustic Panels range, code AWS-WP037. The listing gives each panel as 60 x 240 x 1.7cm, four pieces to a pack and 5.76m² of coverage, and describes the construction as HDF slats with a felt backing and the design as ornate and distinctive.
1.7cm, not 1.5cm, and why that matters
The 01-series slat panels are 1.5cm thick. This one is 1.7cm, and the 2mm is not a detail you notice on the wall, it is a detail you notice at the edges. Check three things before you order:
- The architrave. A door surround that stands only a few millimetres off the plaster may finish flush with the panel face, which looks like a mistake even when it is not. A trim or a scribe sorts it, but it is a decision, not an accident.
- The window reveal. Panelling into a reveal loses 1.7cm of it on each panelled face.
- Sockets and switches. A face plate flush with the plaster ends up 1.7cm deep in a recess. Bringing it forward is electrical work and is worth settling before the panels are ordered.
Coverage and quantities
Panels are 0.6m wide and 2.4m long, so the arithmetic is the same as the rest of the range: wall width divided by 0.6, rounded up, then divided by four for packs.
| Wall width | Panels at 0.6m wide | Packs of 4 |
|---|---|---|
| 1.2m | 2 | 1 |
| 2.4m | 4 | 1 |
| 3.0m | 5 | 2 |
| 3.6m | 6 | 2 |
| 4.8m | 8 | 2 |
The 5.76m² per pack holds for the full 240cm height. Stop short of the ceiling and you still buy whole panels, so count panels rather than square metres.
The spec gap worth knowing about
The 01-series panels publish a slat width and a gap: 2.5cm and 1.5cm. This listing publishes neither. It describes the design as ornate and distinctive and leaves the profile to the photographs. If the rhythm of the panel is the reason you are buying it, that is not enough to plan a cut from, so ask the shop for the slat width and the spacing before you order. The same goes for whether a cut can land between two slats, which is exactly the question a corner raises.
Two other things are not stated and are worth asking about together: any acoustic figure, because the description claims sound absorption but publishes no NRC or αw value and no test standard; and the fixing method, because nothing on the listing says whether these are glued, screwed or battened out. Unlike some of the 01-series listings, no matching trim is named here either, so if a top edge or an external corner will be visible, ask what caps a 1.7cm panel.
The rest of the set, and ordering
This panel is one of three antique metallic finishes built on the same 60 x 240 x 1.7cm panel: the other two are Wall Panel 010B - Antique Metallic Gold and Wall Panel 010C - Antique Metallic Brown. If you want a metallic grey without the ornate profile, Wall Panel 01WH - Metallic Light Grey is the plainer slat panel. Adhesive for Wall Panels is sold separately.
Order a spare panel where your sum lands exactly on a pack: a mis-cut around a socket costs a panel, not an offcut. Delivery is free within 50 miles of the Glasgow store and £50 beyond.
