Torino Small Wardrobe: 90cm wide, and the rooms it suits

Torino Small Wardrobe

View the product

Ninety centimetres is a useful width in a bedroom. It fits the wall beside a chimney breast, it leaves a box room usable, and it gives a couple a second wardrobe without taking the whole room. That is the job the Torino Small Wardrobe is there to do, at 90 x 56 x 190cm as listed.

Where a 90cm width earns its place

  • Beside a chimney breast. The recess either side of a breast is often the narrowest wall in the room, so measure it before you assume a wider unit will go in.
  • In a second bedroom. A 90cm front leaves more floor for a single bed and a route past it than a full-width unit does.
  • As the second wardrobe. Two of them side by side come to 180cm of wall. One alongside the wider Torino comes to 220.5cm, which is worth working out on paper before you buy either.
  • Where a door is in the way. A narrower unit can often be placed so a bedroom door still opens fully against the wall.

Small or large: the difference is width alone

Both Torino wardrobes are listed at the same depth and the same height, so the choice comes down to how much wall you have.

Large Wardrobe130.5cm56cm190cm

The listing prints the three figures without labelling them. They read as width, depth and height, but if a few centimetres either way decides it for you, have the shop confirm the order of the numbers.

Three checks before you buy

First, the height. The listing does not say whether it arrives built or flat-packed; if it comes built, 190cm needs clear ceiling to stand it upright and a stair turn it will pass round, so measure the route as well as the room. Second, the depth. 56cm from the wall is the part people forget; put masking tape on the floor and walk past it before you decide. Third, the inside. Internal depth is always less than the 56cm outside, and the listing does not record what the inside holds, so if you hang broad-shouldered coats or suits, ask before you order.

Questions the dimensions cannot answer

The product page gives the sizes and the photographs, and not much more in writing. It does not record the material or finish, the colour, how many doors there are or which way they open, whether there is a rail, a shelf or drawers inside, or whether assembly is needed. It is simply not written down, so ask the shop for whatever matters to you. It is a bought-in piece from the Torino range, so the shop can check any of it with the supplier before you commit.

Finishing the room

Torino covers the rest of a bedroom too. The Torino 2+3 Drawer Chest takes the folded clothes a narrow wardrobe cannot, and the Torino Dressing Table suits the wall under a window. Browse the full wardrobe range and the dressing tables if you are buying more than one piece.
