Torino Small TV Unit: three measurements before you order
This guide is about
Torino Small TV Unit
The Torino Small TV Unit is listed at 92 x 40 x 50cm, the narrowest of the straight Torino sizes; the range also lists 120 x 40 x 50cm, 180 x 40 x 50cm and an 80 x 40 x 65cm corner unit. A 92cm piece is bought for a particular gap, which makes the measuring matter more here than anywhere else in the range.
Three measurements before you order
- The gap, at floor level. Not at waist height, where there is nothing in the way. Architraves, pipe boxing and skirting returns all narrow a wall near the floor, and those are the inches that decide this.
- The screen's base. The spread between the feet, the depth of each foot, or the footprint of a central pedestal. A screen may be wider than the top it stands on; its base may not.
- The eye line. Sit where you watch from, measure floor to eye, and compare that with 50cm plus half the height of your screen.
The listing prints three figures without labelling them, so confirm which is the width and which is the height when you order rather than trusting the order they appear in.
What 92cm fits
The wall between a door and a window. The end of a through lounge. A bedroom where the screen faces the foot of the bed. A small flat where a longer unit would leave nowhere to walk. In a room that size the 40cm depth is the figure to watch as much as the width: take it off the floor space in front and see what walkway is left, because anything much under 60cm feels like squeezing past.
The route into the room
A narrow unit is the easy one to get in, which is exactly why nobody checks. Measure the front door, the turn at the top of a stair and the clear width of the doorway into the room, and remember a door that opens inwards takes its own thickness off the opening. The listing does not say whether the unit arrives assembled or flat, so ask before you plan the afternoon around it.
What the listing does not cover, and the next size up
Material, finish, colour, what sits behind or below the top, and any weight limit are all absent from this listing, which gives sizes only. Ask the shop and have the answers recorded on the order. If the gap turns out to be wider than you thought, the Torino Large TV Unit is the 120cm version, the Torino Corner TV Unit suits an awkward room, and the Lucca Small TV Unit is listed at the same 92 x 40 x 50cm in the other range. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond.
Photographs and the size list are on the Torino Small TV Unit page, with the rest of the TV units alongside.
