Torino Mini Sideboard: 70 x 35cm for narrow walls and halls

Torino Mini Sideboard: 70 x 35cm for narrow walls and halls — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Torino Mini Sideboard

View the product

The Torino Mini Sideboard is listed at 70 x 35 x 81cm. At that size it is less a sideboard than a small cabinet with a usable top, and it tends to be bought for a specific awkward spot rather than for a dining room. Its listing is the dimension string alone, so this post is about where those figures work.

Three spots where 70 x 35cm earns its place

  • A bay window. The flat centre pane of a bay is often around 80cm to 90cm of wall, which takes a 70cm cabinet and nothing wider. Measure the flat section only, ignoring the angled returns.
  • Beside a bed. At 81cm it stands taller than most bedside tables, which puts the top near the height of a high mattress rather than below it. Good for a lamp and a book if the bed is tall, wrong if the bed is low. Compare it against Bedside Tables before deciding.
  • Between two doors. The strip of wall between a room door and a cupboard door is often the only space left in a small flat, and a 35cm depth keeps that stretch walkable.

Where an 81cm height is the wrong answer

Under a window with a low sill, and under a stair. Measure the sill or the soffit to the floor first, and if the figure is below about 85cm, look at a lower piece instead. The same applies beneath a wall-mounted boiler or a meter cupboard, where the fitting underside rather than the shelf is the number that matters. For reference, the Milan Small Sideboard is listed at 70cm high, 11cm lower, though it is also 110cm long.

One quirk worth knowing: the Lucca Mini Sideboard publishes the same 70 x 35 footprint at 80cm rather than 81cm. A centimetre either way across listings like these is best treated as nominal, so leave yourself a margin rather than planning to the millimetre.

What is not in the listing

No material, finish or colour, no count of doors or drawers, no internal measurement, no weight, nothing on assembly. For a piece this size the internal question is usually the one that matters: whether the inside is a single cupboard or shelved, since that decides if it will take anything upright. Ask us and we will look, rather than guessing here.

The larger Torino sizes

If the spot turns out to take more, the Torino Small Sideboard is listed at 97 x 40 x 81cm and the Torino Large Sideboard at 137 x 40 x 81cm, both 5cm deeper. The whole group is in Sideboards & Cabinets.

Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond. Measure the awkward spot at the floor and at the top, then see the Torino Mini Sideboard page for the photographs and to order.
