SY1710 Wall Mirror: six sizes in the copy, four on the page
This guide is about
SY1710 Wall Mirror
The SY1710 Wall Mirror has the most confusing size list in the Wall Mirrors range, and the clearest reason to read before you buy. Its description lists six sizes under six different codes. Four of them can be chosen on the page. The other two are not on it. This post sorts out which is which, because picking from the description rather than from the options is how people end up with the wrong mirror.
The six codes in the description
| Code in the description | Listed size | Can you choose it here? |
|---|---|---|
| SY1710-4 | 40 x 60cm | Yes |
| SY1710-3 | 60 x 80cm | Yes |
| SY1710-5 | 40 x 120cm | Yes |
| SY1710-2 | 80 x 120cm | Yes, and it is the code on this product |
| SY1710-1 | 80 x 160cm | Not among the options on this page |
| F1710 | 50 x 160cm, free-standing | No. It is its own product |
The free-standing one is straightforward: it is the F1710 Free-Standing Mirror, which the listing marks as free-standing rather than a wall fixing, and it is ordered from its own page. The 80 x 160cm SY1710-1 is the one to ask us about. It appears in the written description but not in the size selector, so do not assume you can order it here. Send us a message before you plan a wall around it.
What the listing says about the frame
The frame is described as aluminium, which is the only material stated anywhere on the page. The description also says the aluminium resists corrosion. That is the supplier's wording rather than a tested figure, and there is no moisture or steam rating recorded against the mirror, so if it is going into a bathroom treat corrosion resistance as a reason to ask rather than an answer. Ask us about the frame colour and finish too. It is not stated, and aluminium is sold in several.
Choosing between the four you can order
- 40 x 60cm. The small one. A cloakroom, the wall beside a door, or above a narrow basin. Too small to hang on a large empty wall on its own.
- 60 x 80cm. The standard size above a basin or a console of around 90cm. Use this one if you want a mirror that is useful without taking over.
- 40 x 120cm. The narrow format, for the pier of wall between two doors or beside a stair where nothing squarer will fit.
- 80 x 120cm. The large option and the code this product is built on, so it is the one the SKU describes.
As with the rest of the range, the two figures are given without saying which is the width. On the 40 x 120 and the 80 x 120 that decides whether you are hanging a tall mirror or a long one, so confirm it with us. No weight is recorded for any size either, which is worth knowing before you fix the largest one to a stud wall.
