Roma Coffee Table: 47cm high, sofa clearance and rug sizing
This guide is about
Roma Coffee Table
The Roma Coffee Table is listed at 100 x 60 x 47cm, and that measurement is the whole of the description. A coffee table is bought by eye and regretted by the centimetre, so this post sets the three numbers against your sofa, your walkway and your rug.

The dimensions are unlabelled. Read as a coffee table they are 100cm long, 60cm deep and 47cm tall. If your space is tight in one direction, ask us to confirm it before the order goes in.
47cm against your sofa seat
The comfortable relationship is a table within a few centimetres of the seat height, level or slightly below. Most sofa seats sit between 42 and 50cm from the floor, so a 47cm table lands in the middle of that range. If your sofa is a low, deep design with a 40cm seat, a 47cm table stands above the cushion line, which looks taller in the room than you expect. Measure from the floor to the top of your seat cushion with somebody sitting on it, not unweighted.
Sizing the table to the sofa, and the walkway
The usual approach is a table around two thirds of the length of the sofa. At 100cm this table suits a sofa of roughly 150cm to 200cm, which covers most two and three seaters. Against a larger sofa it looks under-scaled on its own, though a table plus a nest solves that.
Then the gap. Leave around 40cm between the front of the sofa and the edge of the table: 30cm feels tight to walk through and 50cm has you leaning to reach your mug. With 60cm of table depth plus a 40cm gap, the working footprint from the front of the sofa is about a metre, and if there is a walkway on the far side you need another 60 to 70cm beyond the table.
The rug underneath
The convention is that the whole table stands on the rug with a clear margin all round, which for a 100 x 60cm table means a rug of at least 160 x 230cm once the sofa's front legs are included. A smaller rug leaves the table half on and half off, and on a thick pile check it sits without rocking.
What the listing does not say
Material, finish, top thickness, base or leg design, weight, and whether it arrives assembled: none of it is recorded. There are only two photographs on this listing, fewer than most of the range, so if the finish matters to your decision ask us rather than guess. It is filed in Mirrored Furniture.
The alternatives in the same family
There is a second listing, the Roma Coffee Table (KD), and the listing does not explain what the KD suffix means or how the two differ, so ask us to compare them before you choose. For occasional tables that move around the room instead of one fixed centrepiece, the Roma Nest of Tables is the alternative, and it is also what pairs with this table against a larger sofa. To carry the same family across to the television wall, the Roma TV Unit 120cm is listed at a length that matches the sideboards.
Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond. Measure your seat height and your sofa length first, then see the Roma Coffee Table page for the photographs and to order.
