PU657 LED Wings 03: a square 83cm, in pairs or on its own
This guide is about
PU657 - LED Wings 03 (White/Warm LED)
PU657 LED Wings 03 is the square one: 83 x 83cm, a feather-light outline on a gold stem, with a remote that moves the LED between crisp white and warm and sets the brightness. It is the smallest of the three wings in the range, and a square is the easiest shape to place, because there is no orientation to get wrong and no proportion to match. That makes it the one to choose when you are not working to a measured gap.
The listing, as given
| Item | As the listing gives it |
|---|---|
| Size available | 83 x 83cm |
| Stem | Gold |
| LED | White and warm, changed by remote |
| Brightness | Dims and brightens by remote |
| Supplier code | MS022 |
Because the two figures are the same there is no ambiguity about which way round it goes, which is a small practical advantage over the other sizes in the group. One thing to settle before you plan a position: the listing calls it a fixture on a gold stem and never states how it is mounted, so do not take a wall fixing for granted. Ask us to confirm the mounting, and the depth, which the listing also leaves out. Both decide whether it can go somewhere people walk past closely, in a hallway or on a landing.
One, or a pair
83cm on its own suits a single bed, a narrow console, a desk wall or the space above a chest of drawers. The two-thirds rule of thumb for anything placed above furniture puts 83cm comfortably over a piece of roughly 120cm to 130cm, which covers most chests and most small sideboards.
A pair is the other way to use it. Two squares either side of a bed, a window or a fireplace will fill a wide wall that a single 83cm piece would look lost on, and because they are square they stay symmetrical whichever way round they go. For a pair, allow at least a hand's width between the two and the same again outside each, then set them out from the centre of the wall rather than from the corners.
Measuring it out
- Mark the square. Tape an 83cm square out where it is going and live with it for an evening. It is bigger than it looks on a screen.
- Height. If it does fix to a wall, which the listing does not confirm, centring it around 145cm to 150cm off the floor puts it at standing eye level, which suits a hall or a landing. Above furniture, drop it so there is a clear gap above the furniture rather than a float halfway up the wall.
- The socket. Work out where the power comes from before you pick the spot, not after.
What the listing does not tell you
The description does not state how the piece fixes in place or whether fixings are included, whether it plugs in or needs wiring in and where the cable leaves it, what powers the remote or whether that is supplied, what the feather section and the gold stem are made of, the depth, or the weight. There is no brightness figure either, so plan it as atmosphere alongside your main light rather than instead of it. This is a piece the shop supplies and we will ask the supplier anything you need to know.
The other sizes, and the mirrored version
If 83cm is too small for the wall, PU656 LED Wings 02 is near-square at 93 x 88cm and PU655 LED Wings 01 is the wide one at 140 x 55cm. For the same wings idea in mirror with crushed diamond centres instead of a lit outline, Angel Wings comes at 90 x 120cm and 60 x 80cm. The floor and table lamps are on the same lighting page.
Tape the square out, decide on one or two, then see the photographs on the PU657 LED Wings 03 page. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond.
