Wall Panel 81A Oak Seamless: pack maths for a full wall

Wall Panel 81A Oak Seamless: pack maths for a full wall — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Wall Panel 81A - Oak - Seamless - 240cm - (1 pack / 16pcs)

View the product

Wall Panel 81A comes in packs of sixteen rather than four, because each piece is narrow: 15 x 240 x 1.8cm, in a PVC oak-effect finish. Sixteen of them still cover the same 5.76m² the wider packs do, which tells you something useful before you read another word. The photographs and the full listing are on the Wall Panel 81A Oak Seamless pack page.

Sixteen narrow pieces, one 2.4 metre run

Do the sum and the pack makes sense. Sixteen pieces at 15cm wide is 240cm of wall width, and each piece is 240cm long, so one pack gives you a run 2.4m wide at 2.4m high. That is the 5.76m² quoted on the listing, and it is the number to plan from.

So: wall width in metres, divided by 2.4, rounded up. A 3.2m bedroom wall needs 22 pieces, so two packs. A 4.9m living room wall needs 33, which is three packs and leaves fifteen pieces over, so decide whether the last 10cm has to be panelled before you buy the third. Read 240cm as the panel length and 1.8cm as the thickness, which leaves 15cm as the face width, and confirm that with us before you cut.

Why a narrow panel is easier to plan

A 15cm piece is more forgiving than a 60cm one on three counts, and this is the practical reason to choose it:

  • The cut at the end is smaller. On a wide panel the leftover strip can end up an awkward width. With 15cm pieces your worst case is a narrow sliver, and you can also split the difference and trim both end pieces equally so the wall reads as centred.
  • It goes round obstacles better. Chimney breasts, boxed pipework and recesses mean more edges, and more joints means fewer long cuts.
  • It carries up the stairs. A 240cm length is awkward through a hallway whatever its width, but a narrow piece turns a tight corner that a 60cm board will not.

The trade is the number of vertical lines on the wall. Sixteen pieces across 2.4m gives a far busier rhythm than four, which is the look, and the reason to judge it from the photographs rather than the dimensions.

What "seamless" means on this listing, and what is missing

Read the word carefully. The listing uses seamless to describe the colouration: consistent oak tone across all sixteen pieces, so the wall reads as one surface rather than a set of mismatched boards. It is a statement about colour, not a promise that no joint will be visible. The listing does not state the joint profile at all, so if a tongue and groove or a deliberate shadow gap matters to you, ask us before ordering. Also absent: fire classification, fixing method, and any guidance on cleaning. The material is given as PVC with a wood-effect finish, and the listing makes no claim at all about moisture, so ask us before you commit it to a bathroom or a utility room.

The named finishing piece is the Wall Panel 81 Trim - 240cm, sold separately. Count your external corners, internal corners and exposed top edges, and order the trim with the panels rather than after them.

The same system in other finishes

81A is the oak. The same size, pack and coverage run through the other tones, so you can change the colour without redoing any of the maths above: Wall Panel 81B Walnut for something warmer and darker, and Wall Panel 81C Light Grey where a wood effect would clash with the flooring. If you want an oak in a wider piece, Wall Panel 21A Oak Seamless is listed as an eight-piece pack, so compare the two listings for the look you are after. Everything is in Slat & Acoustic Panels.

Before you order

  • Measure the wall width at three heights and buy for the widest reading.
  • Check the ceiling height. Above 240cm you need a joint, a trim or a different panel.
  • Order all packs at once so the oak tone comes from one run.
  • Count the trims you need at the same time, and ask us about the fixing for your wall build.

Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond. Once the wall is measured, order the Wall Panel 81A Oak Seamless pack, or send us the dimensions and we will do the pack count with you.
