Wall Panel 07D Gold and White Marble: coverage and edges

Wall Panel 07D is a wall board rather than a slat: a flat PVC panel in a gold and white marble effect, four pieces to a pack, each listed at 60 x 240 x 0.7cm, covering 5.76m² per pack. The joints are tongue and groove, which the listing says keeps the face continuous. It is a marble effect on PVC, not stone, and the listing is straightforward about that. Have a proper look at the photographs on the Wall Panel 07D gold and white marble board page, because with a pattern like this the picture is the specification.

The one question to ask before you order

The listing does not say how the veining behaves from panel to panel. On marble-effect boards the pattern may repeat identically on every panel, or it may run across them as a continuous sheet, and the two look completely different on a 2.4m wall. It also does not state whether the panels have a fixed top and bottom, which decides whether you can turn one to vary the pattern. Ask us before you buy, especially if the wall is a bathroom end wall or a fireplace surround where the eye goes straight to it. That is one message now against a wall you cannot unsee later.

Size and coverage

Four 60cm panels side by side make a 2.4m run at the full 240cm height, which is exactly the 5.76m² quoted. Wall width in metres, divided by 2.4, rounded up, gives your pack count. Where the listing's dimension order is ambiguous, read 240cm as the panel length and 0.7cm as the thickness, which leaves 60cm as the face width, and confirm that with us before cutting.

Thin boards are easier to detail

At 0.7cm this board adds very little depth, which is why boards like this get used in bathrooms and behind basins. Socket faceplates, door architraves and window reveals all stay workable. Still worth checking:

• Where the board stops at the bath, basin or worktop, and how that junction is sealed. The listing does not cover sealing.
• Whether your existing wall is flat. A thin board follows the wall it is fixed to. The listing does not say whether the face is matt or has a sheen, and a sheen picks out a hollow that a matt surface would hide, so ask us if your wall is uneven.
• What happens at the top edge: a trim, a coving, or a cut line against the ceiling.

The listing describes the panel as moisture resistant and maintenance free, and names kitchens, bathrooms and feature walls. It gives no fire rating, no fixing method and no cleaning guidance. If this is for a rented property or a commercial room, ask us for the supplier's documentation rather than relying on the description.

Trims, and why the colour choice matters here

The named finishing pieces, each sold separately, are:

• Aluminium End Strip - Black / Gold / Silver - 300cm - (1 pack / 10pcs)
• Aluminium Corner Strip - Black / Gold / Silver - 300cm - (1 pack / 10pcs)
• Aluminium I Strip - Black / Gold / Silver - 300cm - (1 pack / 10pcs)

With gold already in the pattern, a gold strip picks it up and makes the wall look deliberate; silver or black reads as a frame instead. There is no single right answer, but choose it now, because the strips are a separate order and a wall waiting on its edges is a wall you cannot use. Count internal corners, external corners and exposed edges, and note that the strips are 300cm lengths against a 240cm panel.

The same look in other colourways and packs

If the gold is too much, Wall Panel 07A White Marble is the plain white marble effect on the same board. For a darker room, Wall Panel 07C Gold and Black Marble keeps the gold against black. And if you only need a small area, Wall Panel 011D Gold and White Marble is listed as a two-piece pack, so compare the two listings before buying four panels for a splashback. The rest of the wall options are in Slat & Acoustic Panels.
