Wall Panel 05B Dark Oak: panel size, coverage and trims
This guide is about
Wall Panel 05B - Dark Oak - PVC - 240cm - (1 pack / 4pcs)
Wall Panel 05B is a PVC wall panel in a dark oak wood effect, supplied in packs of four. The listing gives each panel as 60 x 240 x 0.7cm and quotes 5.76m² of coverage per pack, and those two figures are what you plan a wall from. The photographs and the full specification sit on the Wall Panel 05B dark oak PVC pack page.
What the listing states, and what it does not
Facts first, because panelling goes wrong on the details rather than the colour.
- Material: PVC, with wood-grain detailing in a dark oak effect.
- Joint: tongue and groove, which the listing describes as giving a continuous surface without visible seams.
- Pack: 4 pieces, each listed at 60 x 240 x 0.7cm.
- Coverage: 5.76m² per pack.
The listing suggests kitchens, bathrooms and feature walls, and describes the PVC as resisting moisture, staining and wear. What it does not give is a fire classification, a fixing method or cleaning instructions. If the panel is going into a let, a commercial fit-out or anywhere a specification has to be met, ask us for the supplier's documentation rather than working from the sales copy. The order of the dimensions is worth confirming too: 240cm is the panel length and 0.7cm is plainly the thickness, which leaves 60cm as the face width, but have that confirmed before you cut anything.
Coverage: how many packs your wall needs
| Figure | As listed |
|---|---|
| Panel size | 60 x 240 x 0.7cm |
| Pieces per pack | 4 |
| Coverage per pack | 5.76m² |
| Wall width covered, full height | 2.4m |
Four panels at 60cm wide, set side by side, give a 2.4m run at the full 240cm height. That is where the 5.76m² comes from. So the quick sum is wall width in metres, divided by 2.4, rounded up. A 3.6m chimney wall is exactly six panels, so two packs with two panels spare; a 5m wall takes three. Buy every pack in one order. The listing makes no promise about colour matching between production batches, and a panel added later is the one you will always notice.
Height and thickness, the two places it bites
Height is the first thing to check. At 240cm the panel suits a standard modern ceiling with a little to trim. A room taller than that needs a horizontal joint, a trim at the top, or a different panel altogether. The taller options in this range are acoustic rather than PVC, for instance Wall Panel 02WA Oak Acoustic at 280cm, so treat that as a different look and a different build, not a drop-in substitute.
Thickness is the second. At 0.7cm the panel sits close to the wall, which keeps socket faceplates, switches, door architraves and window reveals workable. Measure the reveal depth anyway, and check whether your skirting will be removed, undercut or butted into. The listing does not state how the panels should be cut, so ask before you order the blade.
Trims, fixings and the panels that match
The listing names its finishing pieces, and each is a separate item rather than part of the pack:
- PVC Strip A - A Oak - WP 05/61/62 - 240cm - (1 pack / 10pcs)
- Aluminium End Strip - Black / Gold / Silver - 300cm - (1 pack / 10pcs)
- Aluminium Corner Strip - Black / Gold / Silver - 300cm - (1 pack / 10pcs)
- Aluminium I Strip - Black / Gold / Silver - 300cm - (1 pack / 10pcs)
No fixing method is stated on the panel listing, and Adhesive for Wall Panels is listed separately in the same range, so tell us your wall build when you order and we will confirm what suits it. If dark oak is a shade too heavy for the room, Wall Panel 05A Oak PVC is the lighter wood in the same system, and Wall Panel 05D Dark Grey PVC keeps the depth but drops the wood tone for grey. The rest of the wall options are in Slat & Acoustic Panels.
Before you order, and on the day
- Measure the wall width at floor, mid height and ceiling. Few walls are square, and the widest reading is the one to buy for.
- Decide which end the cut panel falls, and keep it in the least seen corner.
- Count your internal and external corners, and your top edge, then order the matching strips with the panels.
- Open every pack and lay the panels out before fixing anything, so you can sequence the grain and spot any transit damage on a 240cm length.
