Wall Panel 03C Dark Grey: wavy acoustic coverage and fit
This guide is about
Wall Panel 03C - Dark Grey - Acoustic - 240cm - (1 pack / 4pcs)
Dark grey and a curved face are a deliberate combination. The wave gives the wall its own light and shade, which is exactly what a flat dark panel can lack. Wall Panel 03C - Dark Grey - Acoustic is four panels to a pack, each 60 x 240 x 1.7cm, listed as covering 5.76m². Below are the figures, what the 1.7cm thickness changes, and the questions the listing does not answer.
The figures, exactly as listed
| Listed as | Figure |
|---|---|
| Panel size | 60 x 240 x 1.7cm per panel |
| Pieces per pack | 4 |
| Area covered | 5.76m² per pack |
| Slat width | 2.5cm |
| Construction | HDF slat material with a felt backing |
| Profile | Wavy |
| Trim named | Wall Panel PVC Trim Acoustic |
| Code | AWS-WP033 |
Take that as width, height and thickness, with 240cm matching the height in the product name. The listing quotes a slat width but no space between slats, so you cannot derive how many slats cross a panel. Ask if an exact repeat matters to your layout.
Dark and curved in the same wall
On a flat dark panel the only relief is the shadow in each gap, which is why a flat black or dark grey wall can look like a single mass from across a room. The wave spreads that relief across the face, so the wall keeps some modelling even under a single ceiling light. Two practical consequences:
- It takes directional light well. A wall washer or a floor-standing lamp close to the wall does more for this panel than a central pendant.
- It shows a bowed wall. A modelled face gives the eye a line to follow, and it reads any ripple in the wall behind as a fault in the panel. Check the wall with a long straight edge first. The listing does not say which way the wave runs, so ask or look at a panel if that matters to your layout.
White skirting and architrave will read as bright lines against dark grey. Decide before fitting whether you are panelling down to the skirting, removing it, or repainting the woodwork. At 1.7cm, the panel also stands further off the wall than the flat 1.5cm lines, so a refitted skirting or a socket face plate needs packing out to suit.
How many packs
Four 60cm panels cover 2.4m of wall width at full height. Round up, because the last panel in a run is usually cut.
| Wall width | Panels at 60cm | Packs |
|---|---|---|
| 1.2m (chimney breast) | 2 | 1 |
| 2.4m | 4 | 1 |
| 3.0m | 5 | 2 |
| 4.2m | 7 | 2 |
| 5.4m | 9 | 3 |
The matching panels
The same wavy profile comes in Wall Panel 03A - Oak - Acoustic and Wall Panel 03T - Walnut - Acoustic, both 1.7cm thick, so an oak-and-grey pairing on two walls meets flush at the corner. If you prefer the dark grey without the curve, Wall Panel 01C - Dark Grey - Acoustic is the flat-faced version at 1.5cm, and it quotes both a slat width and a gap figure.
What the listing does not state, and what to order with it
- No sound absorption figure. The felt backing is described as absorbing sound and improving room acoustics; no coefficient or rating is given, so ask before specifying it to a target.
- No space between slats.
- No felt colour, which on a dark panel decides whether the gaps read as black or as grey.
- No fire classification.
- No fixing method or recommended background.
The Wall Panel PVC Trim Acoustic named in the listing finishes exposed edges and is ordered separately, as is Adhesive for Wall Panels, supplied 24 tubes to a box.
