Wall Panel 01WH Metallic Light Grey: measuring and coverage
This guide is about
Wall Panel 01WH - Metallic Light Grey - Acoustic - 240cm - (1 pack / 4pcs)
Light grey is the finish people reach for when they want the slatted texture without committing the room to a colour. Wall Panel 01WH - Metallic Light Grey - Acoustic is four panels to a pack, each 60 x 240 x 1.5cm, covering 5.76m². The metallic part is what separates it from the plain grey in the same range, and it is worth understanding before you order a roomful.
The figures, exactly as listed
| Listed as | Figure |
|---|---|
| Panel size | 60 x 240 x 1.5cm per panel |
| Pieces per pack | 4 |
| Area covered | 5.76m² per pack |
| Slat width | 2.5cm |
| Space between slats | 1.5cm |
| Construction | HDF slats on a felt backing |
| Trim named | Wall Panel PVC Trim Acoustic |
| Code | AWS-WP019 |
The panel size reads as width, height and thickness, the 240cm matching the height in the name. Confirm the order against the panel itself, because it is not written the same way throughout the catalogue.
Measuring before you order
Four 60cm panels make 2.4m of wall width at full height. The arithmetic is easy; the measuring is where jobs go wrong.
- Measure the width at floor, mid height and ceiling. Use the smallest figure.
- Measure the height in at least three places. A 240cm panel will not forgive a ceiling that drops 15mm across the room.
- Check the wall for bow with a long straight edge. A slatted face telegraphs a hollow once light runs along it.
- Decide where the cut panel lands. A corner behind a door beats the middle of the wall.
| Wall width | Panels at 60cm | Packs |
|---|---|---|
| 1.8m | 3 | 1 |
| 2.4m | 4 | 1 |
| 3.0m | 5 | 2 |
| 4.2m | 7 | 2 |
| 5.4m | 9 | 3 |
Metallic light grey against the plain greys
A metallic face picks up whatever light crosses it, so the same panel looks paler near a window and darker in the corner of the room. That is useful in a small space, where a flat grey can read as heavy, and less useful on a long wall lit from one end only.
If you would rather the colour stayed put, Wall Panel 01B - Light Grey - Acoustic is the plain version in the same format and the same slat figures. Wall Panel 01WJ - Metallic Dark Grey - Acoustic is the darker metallic for a feature wall or a lower half. Both are listed on the same 2.5cm slat and 1.5cm gap as this panel, and at the same 1.5cm thickness, so a change of finish at a corner lines up. Wall Panel 010A - Antique Metallic Grey - Acoustic is a third grey worth seeing beside it, but treat it as a separate decision rather than a swap: its listing quotes 1.7cm thick and gives no slat width or gap at all, so it will not finish flush against this one.
What the listing does not state
- No sound absorption figure. The felt backing is described as absorbing sound, with no coefficient or rating given, so ask before you specify it to meet a target.
- How the metallic finish is applied, and therefore how a cut edge should be dressed.
- The felt colour between the slats, which on a light grey panel is the difference between a soft wall and a striped one.
- No fire classification.
- No fixing method, so adhesive, battens and the stand-off at skirting and architrave are all your decision.
Trims, fixings and ordering
Exposed edges are finished with the Wall Panel PVC Trim Acoustic named in the listing, which is ordered separately, as is Adhesive for Wall Panels at 24 tubes to a box. Order both with the panels so you are not stopped halfway. If the wall is taller than 240cm, say so when you order and we will point you at the taller panels in the range instead.
