Wall Panel 01T Walnut Acoustic: coverage, slats and fit

Wall Panel 01T Walnut Acoustic: coverage, slats and fit — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Wall Panel 01T - Walnut - Acoustic - 240cm - (1 pack / 4pcs)

View the product

A 240cm panel is the full height of a lot of rooms, which is why this range sells in single lengths rather than sheets. Wall Panel 01T - Walnut - Acoustic comes four panels to a pack, each 60cm wide, and the pack is listed as covering 5.76m². The questions worth answering before you order are how many packs the wall takes, what happens if the wall is taller than 240cm, and how walnut sits against the floor and woodwork already in the room.

The figures, exactly as listed

Listed asFigure
Panel size60 x 240 x 1.5cm per panel
Pieces per pack4
Area covered5.76m² per pack
Slat width2.5cm
Space between slats1.5cm
ConstructionHDF slats on a felt backing
Trim namedWall Panel PVC Trim Acoustic
CodeAWS-WP0141

Read that panel size as width, height and thickness: 240cm is the height quoted in the product name and 1.5cm is plainly the thickness. Dimension order is not written the same way everywhere in this catalogue, so confirm which figure is which before you cut anything.

The slat and the gap repeat every 4cm, which works out at 15 slats across a 60cm panel. That is arithmetic from the two listed figures rather than a count the listing gives, so check it against the panel if your layout has to land a slat on a centre line.

How much wall one pack covers

Four panels at 60cm give 2.4m of wall width at full height. Panels get cut to width at the end of a run, so always round up.

Wall widthPanels at 60cmPacks

2.4m41
3.0m52
3.6m62
4.2m72

Do not deduct for a door or a window until you have drawn where the cuts fall. A 90cm door in the middle of a wall usually costs you a panel rather than saving one, because both sides need a cut piece.

Taller walls, and walnut elsewhere in the range

240cm is a panel height, not a ceiling height. If the wall measures more, you either accept a horizontal joint or move to the taller panels: Wall Panel 02WT - Walnut - Acoustic - 280cm is the walnut in that height and comes three panels to a pack, so the coverage maths changes with it.

Walnut also appears in a wider slat profile, Wall Panel 17T - Walnut - Wide Slat Acoustic, which reads calmer across a big wall because there are fewer lines in the same width. If you are pairing a dark wall with a lighter one, Wall Panel 01D - Dark Oak - Acoustic uses the same slat and gap figures, so the two line up at a corner.

What the listing does not state

  • No sound absorption figure. The listing says the felt backing absorbs sound and reduces noise, but gives no absorption coefficient or rating. If you are working to an acoustic target, ask rather than assume.
  • No felt colour. On a slatted panel the backing shows between every slat, so ask what colour it is behind a walnut face.
  • No fire classification.
  • No fixing method. Adhesive and battens both have consequences for how far the panel stands off the wall and how sockets are dealt with.
  • Walnut here is a finish name. Tone and grain vary between panel ranges, so match it to a photo or see it in the shop rather than to another product called walnut.

Measuring, fitting and ordering

Measure the wall width at floor level, at mid height and at the top, and work from the smallest figure. Older rooms are rarely square and the top of a 240cm panel will find that out. Note every socket, switch and aerial point, and decide now whether they are being moved or cut around. The listing names a Wall Panel PVC Trim Acoustic for the exposed edges and that is a separate line, so ask for it with your order. Fixings are separate too: Adhesive for Wall Panels comes as a box of 24 tubes.
