Lucca Corner TV Unit: corner measuring and the 65cm top
This guide is about
Lucca Corner TV Unit
The Lucca Corner TV Unit is listed at 80 x 40 x 65cm. That is the whole of the data: this listing is a size list, with no material, colour, finish or storage detail attached to it. So this post is about what those figures mean in a real corner, and what to ask before you order.
What the listing carries, and what it leaves out
The Lucca listing shows three sizes: 120 x 40 x 50cm as the large, 92 x 40 x 50cm as the small, and 80 x 40 x 65cm as the corner unit. This page is the corner. Beyond those figures the listing says nothing about what the unit is made from, what finish it arrives in, whether there are shelves or doors, or what weight the top will take. A photograph is not an answer to any of them, so put the questions to the shop and have the replies recorded on your order.
Setting an 80cm front across a corner
A corner unit sits across the angle, so its front width is not the amount of wall it uses. Set at 45 degrees, an 80cm front face takes roughly 57cm along each of the two walls before you allow for the depth behind it. Measure out from the internal corner along both walls and mark 60cm on each. If either mark lands on a door architrave, a radiator, a floor vent or skirting-level pipework, the unit will stand off the corner rather than into it, and you lose the floor space that made a corner piece attractive in the first place.
Two checks people skip. The socket: a plug behind a corner unit sits in the deepest part of the triangle and is the hardest point in the room to reach, so decide now whether the cables come from the left wall or the right. And the skirting, which runs round both walls and keeps the unit forward by its own thickness.
A 65cm top and your eye line
The corner unit's third figure is 65cm, where the straight Lucca sizes are 50cm. If that figure is the height, a screen standing on it sits about 15cm higher than it would on the small or large unit, which suits watching from a high seat or from bed and can be too high above a low sofa. Sit where you watch, measure floor to eye, and compare it with 65cm plus half the height of your screen. The listing does not label which figure is which, so confirm the height with the shop rather than reading the printed order as fact.
The rest of the Lucca sizes
If a corner is not the answer, the Lucca Small TV Unit is the 92cm piece and the Lucca X-Large TV Unit runs to 180cm. The 120cm large appears in the size list but is not a separate listing here, so ask if that is the one you want. The Torino Corner TV Unit is listed at the same 80 x 40 x 65cm if you prefer the look of that range. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond.
The photograph and the size list are on the Lucca Corner TV Unit page, with the rest of the TV units alongside.
