Lewis TV Stand: choosing between the 140cm and 160cm size
This guide is about
Lewis TV Stand
The Lewis TV Stand is listed in two widths, 160cm and 140cm, both 40cm deep and 42cm high. Picking between them is the only real choice the listing asks you to make, so it is worth ten minutes with a tape measure.
The two sizes as listed
| Option | Listed size |
|---|---|
| 160 x 40 | 160 x 40 x 42cm |
| 140 x 40 | 140 x 40 x 42cm |
The listing reads these as width, depth and height. Pick the size on the product page before you add it to the basket, and confirm which figure is which when you order, because 42cm of height and 40cm of depth are not interchangeable.
Choosing between 140cm and 160cm
Three things settle it:
- The wall. Measure the clear run between whatever stops it, whether that is a door architrave, a radiator bracket or the return of a chimney breast. Take the measurement at floor level, where the stand actually sits, not at waist height where nothing is in the way.
- The screen. A 16:9 panel is roughly 0.87 of its diagonal wide, which puts a 55in at about 122cm and a 65in at about 144cm. A 65in on feet wants the 160cm top; on 140cm it overhangs at both ends.
- What else goes on the top. A soundbar in front of the screen needs no extra width. A speaker or a lamp beside it needs 20 to 30cm of clear top, and that is usually what tips the choice to 160cm.
Four tapered legs, and where the feet land
The listing describes four tapered legs and a polished chrome frame. It does not say where on the frame those legs stand, so if something is going underneath, check the photographs and ask the shop for the gap between the legs rather than assuming the space under the top is clear from end to end. What four legs do tell you is that the weight lands in four places, so an uneven floor shows up as a rock rather than a lean. On boards or tiles, check all four feet are down before you load the top.
What the listing does not say
It describes a marble top but does not say whether that is solid stone or a marble-effect surface, and it gives no weight limit, no colour options and no mention of shelves, drawers or cable routing. On the face of it there is one surface and the space under it. If you need somewhere for boxes and controllers, ask the shop what the top is and what sits beneath it before you decide, and have the answer written on the order rather than remembered. It is worth asking how the stand arrives as well, because that decides whether you need somebody at home with you when it does, and the listing is silent on that too.
Ordering, and the alternatives
If 140cm is the width you want but you prefer legs at the ends, the Chelsea TV Stand (1.4m) is listed at the same 140 x 40 x 42cm with a bar-braced frame. If you need more than 160cm, the Torino X-Large TV Unit is 180cm wide, and for a corner the Lucca Corner TV Unit is 80cm across the front. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond.
Choose your width, see the photographs and order on the Lewis TV Stand page, or compare it with the rest of the TV units.
