Lewis Silver Grey Bench: 130cm or 160cm, and a size to check
This guide is about
Lewis Silver Grey Bench 130/160cm
The Lewis Silver Grey Bench is a shimmer silver grey velvet seat on chrome legs, offered in two lengths. Depth and height do not change between them, so the only question is length. It is a piece we supply rather than make, and the figures below are its own.
The sizes you can order, and one to check first
| Option | As the listing gives it | Realistic seating |
|---|---|---|
| 130cm | 130 x 48 x 50cm | Two adults side by side |
| 160cm | 160 x 48 x 50cm | Two with room to spare, three at a push |
Read in that order those figures would be length, depth and height, which would put the seat at 50cm, but the listing does not label them. Confirm which is which if a centimetre decides the fit, or if the seat height is what matters.
The written description mentions three lengths, including a 110cm, while the size list and the options you can actually choose give 130cm and 160cm only. We have not resolved that, so we are not going to pretend it is settled: if you specifically want 110cm in this shimmer silver grey, ask the shop before you order rather than assuming it can be had. If 110cm is what the space needs and this finish is not offered in it, the Lewis Mink Bench 110cm and the shortest size of the Lewis Dark Grey Bench 110/130/160cm both cover that length in a different shade.
Where each length works
- Foot of the bed. A UK double is 135cm wide, a king 150cm and a super king 180cm. The 130cm sits inside a double, the 160cm overhangs a king slightly at each side and tucks inside a super king.
- Hallway. Length is rarely the problem in a hall; depth is. Take the 48cm off your hall width and check the walkway left is still comfortable past an open front door.
- Living room. Under a window, or against a wall as extra seating that gets pulled out when people come. Think about where it leaves the radiator before you settle on a wall.
- At a table. If 50cm is the seat height, it sits a little above the 45cm to 47cm of a typical dining chair, so measure floor to the underside of the table top and ask the shop to confirm it first.
The finish, and what the listing leaves out
The listing describes shimmer silver grey velvet with polished chrome legs, and nothing more about the fabric. So the fibre content, the cleaning code, how reflective the shimmer is in a room rather than a photograph, any weight limit, the finish of the feet and whether it arrives assembled are all open questions. A shimmer velvet in particular changes with the light across a long seat, so ask for photographs taken in daylight if the shade has to work with something you already own. Ask for the current lead time in the same conversation.
The rest of the range
Every bench in the benches range is listed with the same 48 and 50cm figures beside its length, so swapping between them changes the shade and the length and little else. The Chelsea Dark Grey Bench 130/180cm is the one to look at if you need 180cm, and the dark grey Lewis is the darker option at the same lengths as this one. They all sit in our living room section.
Ordering
Choose the length, check the depth against the walkway, and settle the 110cm question with the shop if that is the size you had in mind. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond. Check the velvet and the chrome over before the driver leaves. Both sizes and the full photographs are on the Lewis Silver Grey Bench page.
