GS-Lucy Dining Table: 1.5m or 1.8m, and what it seats
This guide is about
GS-Lucy Dining Table (1.5/1.8m)
The GS-Lucy Dining Table is offered in two lengths, 150cm and 180cm, both 90cm across and 75cm high. The listing describes a cross-shaped base finished in a blend of silver and gold, and a marble top it says is unique to each table. Picking the length is the whole decision, and it is settled with a tape measure rather than a photograph.
The figures, exactly as listed
| Size option | As the listing gives it | Reads as |
|---|---|---|
| 1.5m | 150 x 90 x 75cm | length x width x height |
| 1.8m | 180 x 90 x 75cm | length x width x height |
The listing does not label those three figures, so we have read them in the usual order for a dining table. Both options keep the same 90cm width and the same 75cm height; only the length moves. If a centimetre either way matters, ask us to confirm which figure is which before you order.
Which length, and how many it seats
Allow about 60cm of table edge per place setting. On that basis the 150cm top seats four in comfort, or six if you use both ends. The 180cm top seats six in comfort and eight at a squeeze with one at each end. The 90cm width leaves a usable strip down the middle for serving dishes without plates being pushed to the edge.
The floor area you need is considerably bigger than the table. Add roughly 100cm on every side you intend to seat someone: about 75cm to pull a chair out and sit down, plus room for another person to pass behind. That puts the 150cm top in a clear area of about 350 x 290cm and the 180cm top in about 380 x 290cm. Where one long side stands against a wall, take 100cm back off that side.
The cross base, and where the chairs go
A cross base carries the top from the centre rather than from four corners, so both ends of the table are clear and somebody can sit there without a leg between their knees. The trade is that the base spreads out underneath the middle, so check it against any bench or wide-legged chair you plan to push right under. At a 75cm top height, a dining chair with a seat around 45cm leaves roughly 30cm of knee room, which is the normal range.
What the listing does not say
- It calls the top marble but does not say whether that is natural stone or a marble-effect surface, and gives no thickness. Ask us before you order if that matters to you.
- It does say each top is unique, so do not expect yours to match the photographs exactly.
- No weight is given. A stone or stone-effect top is not light, so plan the route in and have somebody with you on delivery day.
- Nothing on cleaning, sealing or whether the base arrives attached to the top. We would rather tell you the listing is silent than fill the gap with a guess.
What it sits with
If 180cm is as small as your room will let you go, the GS-Madrid Dining Table (1.8/2m) takes the same silver-and-gold treatment up to a 200 x 100cm top on a block base. For a marble top on four chrome legs instead of a cross base, compare the Lewis Dining Table (1.2/1.5/1.8/2m), which starts at 120 x 80cm. If a round top suits the room better, the London Round Table (1.3m) is the same 75cm height on a pedestal. The range also runs to a GS-Lucy console table, and the full list of lengths and shapes is in Dining Tables.
Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond. Once you have your measurements, the GS-Lucy Dining Table page carries the photographs and both size options.
