GS-Lucy Console Table: the two-tone cross base, and how to place it
This guide is about
GS-Lucy Console Table
The GS-Lucy Console Table is the console in this range that commits to a look. Its base is a cross rather than four legs or a pedestal, and the listing describes that framework as a blend of silver and gold finishes. If you are shopping on metal tone as much as on size, that is the detail to think about first.
What the listing confirms
| Detail | As the listing gives it |
|---|---|
| Size available | 120 x 40 x 75cm |
| Base | Cross base, silver and gold finishes |
| Surface | Natural stone |
| Suggested rooms | Entryways, living spaces, hallways |
| Product code | AWS-MB46 |
The figures read as width, then depth, then height. Confirm which is which with us if a chimney breast, a run of fitted units or a radiator is going to decide the fit, because reading those figures in the wrong order is how a 40cm-deep table gets planned into a space on the strength of the 120.
Living with two metal tones
A base that carries both silver and gold is easier to place than a single-metal frame, because it already contains the contrast. It does not have to match your door handles, your lamp or your mirror frame exactly, which is usually where mixed-metal rooms go wrong. What it does need is something else in the room repeating one of the two tones, so the table reads as deliberate rather than as the odd piece out.
If you would rather the console disappeared into a cooler scheme, the chrome-framed options are the straightforward alternative at the same listed size: the Lewis Console Table on four legs, or the Chelsea Console Table on a round pedestal. Comparing those three is really a decision about the base and the finish, not about the footprint.
Measuring for a 120cm console
Three measurements decide it.
- Width. 120cm is the table alone. Add the clearance you want at each end so it does not sit hard against an architrave or a radiator, and mark the whole run on the floor with tape before you order.
- Depth. Take 40cm off the narrowest width of the hall, measured over the skirting. What is left is the walkway you will be using every day with bags in both hands.
- Height. At 75cm, check the table against sockets and switches on that wall, and against whatever you plan to hang above it. If a mirror is going up there, leave a visible gap above the surface.
A cross base also stands differently underfoot from four corner legs, and the listing does not say how far the arms spread or how many points they land on, so take that from the photographs. Either way, look at what the table will stand on: the edge of a rug, a floor vent or an uneven board under one foot will read as a wobble.
What is not stated, and should be asked
- Which stone. The listing says natural stone and does not name it. Different stones take marks and spills differently, so ask us what the top is before you plan to stand a drink on it.
- Weight. No figure is published, so do not assume it is a one-person lift. Tell us the route when you order and we will ask the supplier for the weight.
- Assembly. Nothing says whether the top arrives fitted to the base or packed apart.
- Finish care. No cleaning or care instruction is given for the metal finish, which is worth a question if the table is going somewhere a door or a vacuum will catch it.
We would rather answer those than have you guess. None of them is a reason to avoid the table, and all of them are quicker to settle before delivery than after.
Where it fits in the range
At 120cm this is one of the longer consoles here. If the wall is shorter than that, the Lucca Console Table is listed at 85 x 34 x 70cm, and the whole line-up sits side by side in console tables so you can compare sizes in one place.
Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond. The photographs on the GS-Lucy Console Table page show the cross base and the two tones from several angles, which is the honest way to judge whether the mix suits your room. Send us your wall measurement and the stone question and we will come back on both.
