G-M015 Mirrors: hanging two 90cm circles, one gold, one black

Mirrors sold in pairs look easy and hang hard. Two circles need more wall than people expect, and they are unforgiving: if the spacing or the height is out, both are wrong at once. The G-M015 Gold and Black Wall Mirrors (2 Pack) are two round mirrors of 90cm each, sold together, one with a gold frame and one with a black one.

What the pack is

The listing is explicit about this, which is useful, because a pack listing often is not. You get two mirrors, one gold and one black, both round and both 90cm across. The listing does not say whether 90cm is the glass or the outside edge of the frame, or how wide the frame band is, so ask us if the wall space is tight.

The wall arithmetic for a pair

Side by side, start from 180cm of mirror and add the gap between them.

A close gap reads as one piece; a wide gap reads as two. Below about 10cm the frames start to look like a mistake rather than a decision. Mark both circles on the wall in pencil before a single hole is drilled, and set the pair out from a centre line between them so the group is centred on the furniture rather than on the room.

Or split them up

There is no rule that a pack has to hang together, and two finishes make splitting them easier than it would be with two identical mirrors. The black one suits a room with dark joinery, a black window frame or steel-look fittings; the gold one goes where brass handles or warm bulbs are already doing the work. One in the hall and one in the bedroom is a perfectly sensible use of the pack, and it means the pair never has to be perfectly aligned.

What the listing does not say

• No weight for either mirror. Two 90cm pieces are the point at which a stud wall or proper plasterboard anchors matter, so ask us.
• No frame material, no frame depth, no glass thickness, and no fixings described. Ask what is on the back of them.
• Nothing rates them for a bathroom, so check with us before hanging one in a shower room.
• The listing says they are purchased as a pack of two, one gold and one black, so if you only want one finish, ask us before you order.
