Fireplace (White): measuring 120.5 x 33.5 x 98.5cm into an alcove
This guide is about
Fireplace (White)
The Fireplace (White) is listed at 120.5 x 33.5 x 98.5cm. That measurement, and the word white in its name, is everything the listing records. So this post is about getting the dimensions right and knowing which questions to put to us.
The figures, exactly as listed

The numbers are unlabelled. Read as a piece standing against a wall they are 120.5cm across the front, 33.5cm out from the wall and 98.5cm tall. The half centimetres matter in a tight alcove, so ask us to confirm which figure is which.
Measuring the wall it has to sit on
Three measurements decide this, and all three are taken on the wall rather than off the piece.
- The width available. You need more than 120.5cm. If it is going into a recess beside a chimney breast, measure the recess at the floor, at waist height and at the top, because old walls are rarely parallel. Take the smallest figure and work to that.
- The depth into the room. 33.5cm is a real projection. In a narrow sitting room it eats a third of a metre from the walkway, and you still want a comfortable gap left between its front and a sofa or coffee table. Mark 33.5cm on the floor with tape and live with it for an evening.
- The height against what is above it. If a mirror or television is going above, measure from 98.5cm upwards, not from the floor.
Also check the route in. 120.5cm wide and 98.5cm tall will not turn a tight hall corner the way a bedside table does, so measure your doorway and the turn at the foot of the stairs, and have a second person at the door.
What the listing does not say, and why it matters here
More than usual, because a fireplace raises questions a sideboard does not. The listing records no material, no finish detail beyond the colour in its name, no weight, and nothing about whether it arrives assembled. Most importantly it says nothing about an opening, an insert or a heater, and nothing about whether anything electrical is included or can be fitted. Do not assume either way: ask us what the current piece includes before you buy, especially if you are matching it to an electric fire you already own or planning to use it against a live chimney. If you specifically want a heater, the Roma TV Unit With Heater in the same family is the listing that names one.
What it works with
A piece 120.5cm long pairs naturally with pieces of a similar length along the same wall. The Roma 2 Door 3 Drawer Large Sideboard is listed at 120 x 40 x 80cm, so it matches the width almost exactly and sits lower, and the Roma TV Unit 120cm repeats the same 120cm line for a television, though its listing is not quoted here and we would need to confirm its height. For a tall, narrow piece to flank it, the Roma Bookcase is listed at 80 x 30 x 120cm. The rest of the set is in Mirrored Furniture.
Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond. Measure the recess at three heights first, then see the Fireplace (White) page for the photographs and to order.
