Fencing 94 Trim in black: what it finishes and how many
This guide is about
Fencing 94 Trim - Black - 180cm (1 Pack / 4pcs)
The Fencing 94 Trim in black is the piece the listing gives for covering the cut edges of a composite fence. It is easy to leave off an order and awkward to add afterwards, so it is worth counting at the same time as the boards.
What the listing actually says it does
Two jobs, both stated plainly. It is designed for standard 40mm concrete post installations, which is the trim that lets composite boards finish against posts that are already in the ground. And it is cut to length to trim the top and bottom edges of fence panels, concealing raw panel edges. That is the whole brief: it covers an edge, and it suits a 40mm post width.
| Length | 180cm |
|---|---|
| Section, as listed | 4cm x 4.5cm |
| Pieces per pack | 4 |
| Post width stated | 40mm |
| Colour | Black |
| Fencing named with it | Fencing 94, outdoor, 180cm |
The size reads 4 x 180 x 4.5cm. The 180cm is clearly the length, but the listing does not say which of the two smaller figures is the visible face and which is the return, and on a trim that is the difference between a 4cm shadow line and a 4.5cm one. Ask the shop which way round it sits before you order for a run where it will be seen at eye level.
Counting lengths rather than packs
Work in lengths first and convert to packs afterwards. A 1.8m bay trimmed top and bottom takes two lengths, so a pack of four does two bays. If you also want the vertical edges covered at each post, that is four lengths a bay and a pack per bay. The listing only mentions the top and bottom edges, so confirm with the shop whether the vertical use is intended before you buy on that basis.
- Count your bays.
- Multiply by two for top and bottom lengths, or by four if the uprights are being trimmed too.
- Divide by four for packs and round up.
- Allow for the offcuts, since the trim is cut to length rather than supplied to a bay size.
Eight bays trimmed top and bottom is sixteen lengths, so four packs. The same eight bays trimmed all round is thirty-two lengths, so eight packs.
What to check before ordering
Measure your posts. The 40mm figure is the one hard compatibility statement in the listing, and concrete posts vary, so a tape across the channel on your own fence line is worth more than any assumption. The listing does not say whether fixings or adhesive are included, how the trim is held in place, or whether it accepts the full board thickness of every profile here, so ask the shop those three together.
It is named with the Fencing 94 boards, four of which are listed here: Fencing 94A in oak, Fencing 94B in grey oak, Fencing 94D in dark oak and Fencing 94T in walnut, all 30cm boards at six to a pack. The other trim listed across the fencing range is the Fencing 86 Trim, also 180cm and four to a pack, and its title does not state a colour, so ask about the shade if you need a match rather than a contrast. Both trims sit with the boards in fencing, and the panel trims for the outdoor wall ranges are in outdoor trims and fittings.
Delivery is free within 50 miles of the Glasgow store and £50 beyond. When your bay count is settled, order the Fencing 94 Trim pack alongside the boards rather than after them, and check one length against a post before cutting any of the four.
