Fencing 88D Dark Brown: coverage per pack and how it fits

Fencing 88D Dark Brown: coverage per pack and how it fits — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Fencing 88D - Dark Brown - Outdoor - 180cm (1 Pack / 6pcs)

View the product

The Fencing 88D board pack in dark brown is the deepest warm shade of the 16cm composite profile. Dark boundaries are a decision worth making with a board in your hand rather than off a screen, but the ordering is pure arithmetic, so start there.

The numbers on the listing

A board of 16 x 180 x 2cm when fitted and interlocked, six boards to a pack, 1.73m² covered per pack. They agree with each other: six boards 16cm deep stack to 96cm, and at 180cm long that comes to 1.73m².

Two packs to a fence panel is the listing's rule. Twelve boards at 16cm stack to 1.92m, so a 1.8m bay does not land on a whole board: eleven boards reach 1.76m and the twelfth passes the top of the post. Plan on a board to cut, set low or keep spare, and if your posts are already in, ask the shop how they expect the bay to be made up before you order for the whole boundary.

Turning a boundary into a pack count

  1. Measure between post centres in metres, and measure at both ends. Few gardens run true.
  2. Divide by 1.8m for bays, then round up.
  3. Two packs a bay at full height. A 10m run is six bays, so twelve packs.
  4. For a lower fence, divide the finished height in metres by 0.16 for boards, then by six for packs.
  5. Add a cutting allowance and ask the shop what it should be for this profile.

Where the ground falls away, work bay by bay rather than averaging the whole run, because a stepped fence needs its own board count at each post.

What a dark shade asks of you

Dark brown reads as a backdrop rather than a feature, which is worth weighing if planting is going to do the work in front of it. That is a judgement, not a claim from the listing, and the listing itself is brief on the shade: it names it and nothing else. There is no statement of sheen, no description of the grain, and nothing on how closely one pack matches another, so see it in daylight and ask the shop about batch matching if you are extending an existing run.

On the material, the listing says the composite is weather and UV resistant and protects against fading in direct sunlight, and that the boards interlock without visible gaps. It does not break the composite down, classify it for fire, or give a wind rating. If an exposed site or a planning condition is driving the job, those are the questions to put to the shop first.

Fittings, and the alternatives either side

For an existing concrete post run the listing names the Fencing 86 Trim and the Fencing 94 Trim in black, four lengths to a pack. For a new run it names the 6-inch black fence post, four to a pack. Black uprights sit closer in tone to a dark brown board than to a pale one, which is a judgement about how it looks and not something the listing states.

If you want the same board darker again, Fencing 88E in black is identical in size and pack. For a wider board in a deep shade, Fencing 94D in dark oak is 30cm and works out at one pack per fence panel. Everything sits in fencing within the wider garden and outdoor range.

Delivery is free within 50 miles of the Glasgow store and £50 beyond. Count the boards on arrival and check one against your own measurement before cutting. When the bay count is settled, order the Fencing 88D dark brown pack two to the bay, quoting the full title and code.
