Fence Lattice 02 Strips: how it differs from the Flower pattern

Fence Lattice 02 Strips: how it differs from the Flower pattern — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Fence Lattice 02 - Strips

View the product

Two lattice patterns sit in the fencing range, and on paper they are the same product. Fence Lattice 02 - Strips is the linear one: a 180 x 30 x 0.2cm aluminium sheet that drops into a composite fence bay as a band rather than a full panel.

The specification

  • Sheet 180 x 30 x 0.2cm, described as lightweight aluminium.
  • Top and bottom aluminium trim strips, one grooved to lock into standard fence panel trims.
  • Trim thickness 19mm.
  • Pack contents: one lattice, two top and bottom trims, two L-connectors and eight screws.
  • Supplier code AWS-AS025.

Strips or Flower

This is the honest part. The two listings carry identical specifications, identical pack contents and identical dimensions. The only stated difference between Fence Lattice 02 - Strips and Fence Lattice 01 - Flower is the pattern named in the title.

Neither listing states the hole size, how much of the sheet is open, or the colour of the aluminium, so a judgement about privacy or the amount of light through has to come from the photographs on each product page and from a look at the real thing. A strip pattern is usually the quieter of the two beside a run of horizontal boards, because the lines carry on in the same direction, but take that as an opinion about shape rather than a fact from the listing.

Where the band sits in a bay

The sheet is 180cm long, the same length as the composite boards here, so it spans a standard bay without being cut. At 30cm tall it is the exact height of two 15cm boards. That gives two sensible positions: replace the top two boards and keep the fence at 180cm, or add the band above a full twelve-board bay and take the line to 210cm, which needs the taller 240cm post rather than the 190cm one.

Fit it where it earns its keep. One band per bay along the top of a run breaks up a flat boundary; a band at eye level across a seating area gives that stretch something to look at, though how much of the sheet is open is not stated. Count packs by the bay, not by the metre.

Check the trim fit first

The trim is listed at 19mm thick and described as locking into standard fence panel trims. The posts in this range are grooved 20mm wide and 18mm deep to take 2cm boards, so the figures are close without being identical. Confirm the combination with the shop against your own posts, especially if you are fitting to existing concrete posts with Fencing 86 Trim - 180cm rather than to new composite posts.

For the boards around it, Fencing 86E - Black is six boards a pack and two packs a bay. Delivery is free within 50 miles of the Glasgow store and £50 beyond. Order Fence Lattice 02 - Strips once the bay layout is decided, and ask the shop to confirm the trim fit against the posts you are using.
