The Everleigh Kids Ottoman: One Compartment, Four Sizes
This guide is about
Everleigh Kids Ottoman Divan Bed
Give a child a bed with drawers and you get storage they cannot open, because the floor in front of the drawers is where everything already is. The Everleigh kids ottoman divan bed takes the other approach. The whole base lifts, so the storage opens upwards into empty air rather than outwards into the room.
What lifting actually gives you
Gas struts take the weight of the mattress and the top swings up from the side, opening the full footprint of the bed as one lined compartment. One space, no runners, no divisions. That suits a child's belongings better than drawers do, because the bulky things are the problem: the duvet that is too warm for summer, the toy that is loved in theory, the suitcase, the box of baby clothes nobody will throw out.
It also works with the bed in a corner, which is where a child's bed usually ends up. Keep the lifting side clear and keep the wall above the pillows free of shelves. Treat the lid as something a parent opens.
The Everleigh headboard
Across the upper middle of the board runs a group of recessed seams in narrow horizontal bands, with the cloth smooth above and below. It is a small amount of detail in a sensible place: there is nothing standing proud to be picked at, and nothing deep enough to collect crumbs, which are both real considerations in a child's room. The board is upholstered in the same cloth as the base and sides, so there is no almost-matching headboard behind an almost-matching bed.
Two heights are listed. The standard board is 26 inches; the 54 inch floor-standing board goes down to the carpet and covers the wall behind the bed, which is the one to pick if that wall takes a beating.
Four sizes
- Small Single 2FT6: 75 cm wide, 196.5 cm long
- Single 3FT: 90 cm wide, 196.5 cm long
- Small Double 4FT: 120 cm wide, 196.5 cm long
- Double 4FT6: 135 cm wide, 196.5 cm long
All four are 196.5 cm long, so the only dimension that changes is the width. The 2FT6 at 75 cm is the size that makes a box room workable; the 4FT at 120 cm is what parents take when they want the bed to last into the teenage years. Measure the clear wall, take off the bed, and check what is left to walk and play in, then check the doorway and any turn on the stairs. The product page carries a size guide with the bed drawn from the side and from above, all four to the same scale.
Colour: 26 options
Upholstered to order in any of 26 colourways, with every cloth-covered part in the fabric you choose. Pink and Blue are offered in both the Coniston weave and the Plush Velvet, so a bold colour need not mean a shiny finish. Almond, Cream, Mink, Silver and Charcoal are the quieter options that survive a change of mind about posters and paint. Weaves and chenilles take handling better than a velvet pile. Ask us for a swatch before committing to a dark shade.
Delivery, and what you still need
Mattresses are sold separately so the tension suits the child rather than the box. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond it, so families looking at kids beds in Glasgow pay nothing for delivery, and anyone further out sees the charge before they order.
Every one is handmade to order in your size, cloth and headboard. Set yours up on the Everleigh kids ottoman page, or look across the other designs in our kids ottoman divan beds range to compare headboards on the same lifting base.
