Everleigh Kids Divan Bed

View the product

The Everleigh kids divan bed is the banded Everleigh headboard at a child's scale, and its storage is a decision rather than a given. You can have no storage at all, two drawers on the left side, two on the right, two at the foot end, or four.

Choose the layout from the room

Work out where the bed will sit first. A long side against a wall rules out drawers on that side, so take them on the other. A bed in an alcove with both long sides enclosed leaves the foot end as the only workable option. Four drawers need floor on both sides. And no storage is a real answer, not a cop-out, if there is already a chest in the room and you would rather the bed stayed low and plain.

Drawers need their own depth of clear floor to open, which in a child's room is the catch. If the floor is permanently occupied, the lifting-base version solves it, and the rest of our kids divan beds range sits alongside the ottoman designs so you can compare the two ways of doing it.

The headboard

A group of recessed seams runs across the upper middle of the board in narrow horizontal bands, with the cloth smooth above and below. The detail sits in the middle of the board, where it is seen, and there is nothing raised to be picked loose. It is upholstered in the same cloth as the base and sides, so the bed comes as one object.

Two heights are listed: a standard 26 inch board, and a 54 inch floor-standing board that runs to the carpet behind the base. The tall one is worth it where the wall behind the bed gets marked.

Sizes

  • Small Single 2FT6: 75 cm wide, 196.5 cm long
  • Single 3FT: 90 cm wide, 196.5 cm long
  • Small Double 4FT: 120 cm wide, 196.5 cm long
  • Double 4FT6: 135 cm wide, 196.5 cm long

All four are 196.5 cm long. That is a little longer than several other child-scale designs, which is good news for a tall teenager and worth checking twice if the bed has to fit between a wall and a chimney breast. Only the width varies, so planning is one measurement plus whatever the drawers need. There is a size guide on the product page with the bed drawn from the side and from above, every size to the same scale.

How it is built

The mattress sits down inside an upholstered surround, with the side rails and foot end finished in the same cloth as the headboard. With no storage selected the base stays closed and the lines stay low; with drawers, they are built into that upholstered base rather than hung underneath it.

Twenty-six colourways

Upholstered to order in any of 26 colourways, every cloth-covered part in the fabric you pick. Pink and Blue are in both the Coniston weave and the Plush Velvet. Almond, Cream, Mink, Silver and Charcoal are the ones to choose if the room will be redecorated long before the bed is replaced. On a bed with drawer fronts a flat weave or chenille takes the daily pushing and pulling better than a velvet pile, which shows where it was last touched. Ask us for a swatch if you want to be sure.

Delivery and the mattress

Mattresses are sold separately, so you choose the tension rather than accept a set. Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond it, so the cost is clear whether the bed is going across the city or to someone shopping for kids beds in Scotland outside that radius.

Each bed is handmade to order in the size, cloth, headboard and drawer layout you choose, so get the drawer side right before you order. Work through the options on the Everleigh kids divan page.
