Diamond Stand 01 (LED): what a 40cm square footprint fits
This guide is about
Diamond Stand 01 (LED)
The Diamond Stand 01 (LED) is listed at 40 x 40 x 80cm, and that is the whole of its description. No material, no finish, no wiring detail. This post works out what a 40cm square base and an 80cm height do in a room, and what you will need to ask us before you order.
The figures, exactly as listed
| Item | As the listing gives it |
|---|---|
| Size available | 40 x 40 x 80cm |
| Product code | AWS-ROMA-LEDSTAND/01 |
| Category | Mirrored Furniture |
| Photographs | Five on the product page |
The numbers are unlabelled, but two are equal, so the base is a 40cm square and the remaining 80cm is the height.
What an 80cm height is good for
80cm is a useful and slightly unusual height. For comparison: a coffee table sits at roughly 45cm, a sofa arm at around 60cm, a dining table at about 75cm and a kitchen worktop at 90cm.
- As a display plinth. At 80cm a vase, a lamp or an ornament lands near eye level for someone sitting down and comfortably in view for anyone standing. A 60cm pedestal puts the same object below the sightline.
- Beside a bed. Mattress tops are often 60 to 70cm from the floor on a deep divan, and a standard bedside table at 67cm can end up below the mattress. 80cm clears that, though it will stand taller than the bed.
- In a hall or an alcove. A 40cm square takes very little floor, so it works at the end of a hallway or in a recess where a console at 100cm or more will not go.
Measuring 40cm into a real gap
Measure the opening at the narrowest point, not at the skirting. A 40cm square needs about 40cm of wall plus hand room either side, so a 50cm gap is comfortable and a 42cm gap is not. Check the skirting board too: if the stand has a flat back it will stand off the wall by the depth of the skirting, which pushes the front out by a couple of centimetres.
At 40cm wide and 80cm tall it will pass through a standard internal doorway upright, though the listing does not give a packaged size. One warning about a top this small: a lamp with a base much wider than about 25cm will overhang. The listing records no weight and does not say what the top will take, so ask us before you stand anything tall or heavy on it.
What the listing does not tell you
A fair amount, and it is better to say so than guess. The name says LED, but the listing records nothing about the light: no colour, no mention of mains or battery, no switch or remote, nothing about where a cable leaves the piece. If the position of your nearest socket matters, ask us first. There is no weight, no material and no stated finish either. It is filed in Mirrored Furniture, which is all the data says about how it looks, so judge the finish from the five photographs.
What it sits with
For the same treatment at console length, the Heart Console Table (LED) is listed at 120 x 36 x 82cm, within 2cm of this stand's height, so the two line up along one wall. For something lower and smaller, Pedestal 22 is listed at 35 x 35 x 60cm. There are two more in the same family, Roma Pedestal 33 and Roma Pedestal 55, if you want to compare footprints across the set.
Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond. Measure your gap, then see the Diamond Stand 01 (LED) page for the photographs and to order.
