Khaki Decking 85F: matching it to fencing and wall panels

Khaki Decking 85F: matching it to fencing and wall panels — Langham Furniture journal

This guide is about

Decking 85F - Khaki - Outdoor - 290cm - (1 pack / 4pcs)

View the product

Khaki is the shade to choose if you want the deck to settle into planting rather than stand against it. Decking 85F in khaki is listed at 15 x 290 x 2.3cm per board, four boards to a pack, covering 1.74m², with a wood grain texture, and the listing describes the decking as UV resistant.

The figures, as listed

The dimension string reads as width, length and thickness, and the coverage figure agrees: four boards 0.15m by 2.90m is 1.74m². Divide your area in metres by 1.74, round up, then add for cuts. A 4m by 3m terrace is 12m², which comes to just under seven packs, so seven is the bare minimum and an eighth is sensible once cuts are counted.

Matching the fence and the walls

The outdoor lines carry the same colour names, so khaki appears across more than the decking. The Fencing 86F in khaki and the Wall Panel 83F in khaki are listed under the same shade name, and the panel shares the 290cm length, which keeps a boundary and a deck reading as one scheme.

One caution, and it is the practical one: a shared colour name is not proof that two products are the same shade, and no listing here quotes a colour reference or code. Before you buy a deck to match a fence you already own, or buy both together, ask the shop to compare them. A khaki that is slightly greener on the boards than on the boundary is the kind of thing you only notice once it is down.

Planning the run

Each board covers 15cm across the face, so a 2.4m width takes sixteen boards if they butt together. Whether the clips set a gap between boards is not in the listing, and nor is the number of clips a pack of boards needs. Both affect how much you order, so settle them with the shop rather than estimating.

Lay the 290cm length across the shorter side of the area where you can. One board crossing a 2.4m depth leaves about 50cm to trim, and that off-cut is usually waste rather than the start of the next row.

What finishes it, and what the listing omits

The clips are Decking Fittings (80pcs), which slide into the grooves in the decking and take a screw; that pack does not include screws. The trim named for an exposed edge is the Wall Panel 73/83 Trim at 290cm, and its listing does not state its colours, so have khaki checked against it.

The description stops at composite, weather resistant and UV resistant. There is no slip rating, no weight, no span or joist-centre figure, and nothing about what the deck sits on. The dark brown and black boards in the range are described as reversible with a ribbed anti-slip face; this khaki listing describes the grain texture only, so ask before planning on a second face.

The rest of the range

The same board is listed in Oak 03, grey, dark brown and black at identical dimensions, so a border in a second shade costs you no extra planning. Browse them all in Decking, or the boundary lines in Fencing.
